This is always something fun to do around the holiday season. You can post anything Christmas/Holiday related and I will rate it (as the title implies). When I do yours you can post again. Literally anything goes even if it's only tangentially related.

Sorry everyone, I thought I was gonna have way more time for this today, but here's a couple to start off. I'll try to do some more later or tomorrow.
Shonen_Bat posted... Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas) 95/100 Jack Skellington is as perfect as a holiday character can get. Jack Skellington represents that transitive period between Halloween and Christmas, and through the celebration of tradition and holiday discovers who he truly is. As much as Christmas is often associated with joy and happiness, there's also that reflective, melancholic side to the holiday where we are given time to assess and determine exactly what self we want to show out in the world. Conversely, Jack can also represent the effect of "Christmas creep", in which Christmas and its associated aesthetics slowly encroach the months that precede it. Here, we see Jack, this stalwart of Halloween and horror, become enchanted by Christmas' intoxicating spirits, helpless but to succumb to its ever-marching onslaught of gifts and cheer. Jack may lose himself to the holiday, but still puts his own personality into it with twisted gifts and horrific scares under the tree Christmas morning. In this way, Christmas creep is directly opposed and negatively portrayed, and makes a strong case for holidays to be given their own time, their own chance to breathe and thrive on their own. Jack might not be the traditional example of hero, but in a way he represents the potential to do good around Christmas time even if things don't always turn out the way you planned. changmas posted... candy canes 10/100 I'm sure there are people who enjoy eating these, but beyond the aesthetic value towards Christmas, they really are not good to me. They're sticky, get repetitive after only a few licks, and then you're stuck with this awkward meat hook of a snack for God knows how long. --- Bare feet on the tile with my head up in the clouds https://imgur.com/1e1e70S - https://imgur.com/a/bHIYzis ... the chimes of midnight (big finish audio story) 70/100 A thrilling tale of murder and drama, with thrilling voice performances that transport you indelibly into the story's world. I always love stories that combine some elements of horror and Christmas together, because the clashing just works so well thematically. Anagram posted... Santa Claus 67/100 On one hand, he's a representation of the jolly good cheer and the potential of giving back in all of us around the holiday season. On the other, he's arguably the single biggest advisement giant in the world who brings false hope to millions of children around the world while selling them Coca-Cola cans face-first. Still, there's something magical about Santa and maybe I've been conditioned to think that but when done right, removed from the commercialism the belief in Santa Claus in young children is one of the great joys of the Christmas season. Jesse_Custer posted... Die Hard 83/100 While it has become somewhat annoying to hear this pronounced as everyone's favorite Christmas movie year in and year out because of its alternative content matter, there's no denying it's a very good movie and actually a pretty charming Christmas watch. Setting an action movie at Christmas is more than just a novelty or accident, Gruber's act of terrorism is a deliberate violation of and in staunch contrast to the positivity of the season, and a commentary on time seeming frozen on Christmas Day, when it feels like "nothing" is supposed to happen besides intimate moments between you and your family. TheArkOfTurus posted... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftEz-m0kEWA 98/100 God, this song is genuinely amazing. I'm an unabashed supporter of Christmas music and love playing it to death around December, and this scratches the itch of so many aspects of great holiday classics: nostalgia, catchy chorus lines, tasty instrumentals including a choice solo, and of course an overwhelming sense of kitsch. I'm adding this to the rotation immediately. --- Bare feet on the tile with my head up in the clouds https://imgur.com/1e1e70S - https://imgur.com/a/bHIYzis ... Copied to Clipboard!

Klaus 87/100 A wonderful little animated classic. I'm already planning on making this a yearly watch. The backdrops are gorgeous and the plotting is familiar but its genuinely a fresh take on the Santa mythos. Xiahou Shake posted... Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (animated TV special) 46/100 I think I saw this on Cartoon Network way back in the day. The plot's implications always struck me as strangely dark but it's such a low-stakes affair that it almost doesn't even matter. The animation is pretty cheap looking and despite the song being popular this animated special is non-essential. Raka_Putra posted... https://youtu.be/ZB01uKJbl0I 5/100 The less I'm reminded of Umineko the better. Though admittedly the narration is funny. BetrayedTangy posted... National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 93/100 Perhaps the greatest non-horror Christmas movie ever made. Every joke is a riot, it's an absolutely perfect tear-down of the Christmas season while still reminding you of what makes it so special every year. It gets so out of hand and disastrous that it feels like it could off the rails at any moment even if you seen it a million times. I also love how relatable it is, I think we can all find some shred of truth in here no matter what kind of family you have. Xeybozn posted... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vguOQdNuR7U 70/100 A fun re-cut if a little shallow, they could've went farther with it, but Christmas horror works so well I just can't help but think it's great anyway. --- Bare feet on the tile with my head up in the clouds https://imgur.com/1e1e70S - https://imgur.com/a/bHIYzis ... A Christmas Story 87/100 There I was, dumbfounded at how I was going to write A Christmas Story up. Do I try and emulate the film's passionate and personal narration? Do I explain the tradition I have with my brother where we watch this every Christmas morning? Do I highlight the film's small & relatable qualities that make it such an enduring classic? All I knew was, time was running out, and I had to finish the Christmas ratings fast if I wanted that official Red Ryder carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time. Drakeryn posted... evil snowmen 56/100 What makes a snowman's heart evil? Is it the icy cold embrace of a wintery chill? It is a dog peeing on their bottom half after being forgotten in a blizzard-soaked heap by many a small child? What ever the case may be, these anti-Frosties are just about the most hit-or-miss character archetypes in fiction. What kind of a motivation can a snowman really have? I mean, all-together they're not very threatening either. They don't work as a main villain but as a fodder, hey you can do worse. Hardcore_Adult posted... Rankin-Bass Holiday Specials in general 90/100 These are some of the coziest Christmas specials in the game. Their stop-motion efforts are beautiful and while their animated efforts are are a bit more shoddy, they're still highly enjoyable to watch. There's always something to gain from watching these every year, no matter your age level. As an adult, I now feel like they were destined to be these hilariously over-analyzed specials with an impressive loose sense of continuity that is great fun to poke holes in with family and friends. But of course, cynic or not, these are bound to get your attention in some way either for their unique and colorful cast of characters or genuinely heart-warming storylines that are practically the heart of Christmas for me at this point. Lolo_Guru posted... Boxing Day 85/100 As a kid: Holy crap an EXTRA day of presents, let's travel to Canada and capitalize on this fast! As an adult: I don't live in Canada, meh. Anagram posted... I've never quite had the taste for it, though it's definitely better alcohol added to it. Toxtricity posted... Ecco the Dolphin - Ice Zone 86/100 The atmosphere is chilly and hollow, with a droning sense of freezing ambience that is cut through with an alien-like wall of noise, as chimes represent both the beauty of the ice but also Ecco trying to find his way through the labyrinthine and uninviting zone. I can even hear some slight static and crackling, as if the ice is subtly cracking and shifting its weight as it makes room for this unexpected visitor. There's a distinct lack of percussion here that's purposeful to diffuse tension and just make the track and experience of the level a more serene and surreal experience, immersing you in a hypnotic trance. It's a track that simultaneously makes me feel at ease but also as an unwelcome intruder, as if nature is using a siren's call to lure me to my doom, its beauty enticing but the realities ultimately bleak in the end, perfectly tying into Ecco's pro-nature messages and themes. --- Bare feet on the tile with my head up in the clouds https://imgur.com/1e1e70S - https://imgur.com/a/bHIYzis ... Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams - Dreams Dreams : A-Capella Ver. 74/100 Cool, jazzy feeling, it almost sounds like a vocal cut from a TSO album. The bum-bums definitely give it a Christmas feeling, it just sounds like something you would hear late night as the fire dies. It's cool that this comes from one of the true genuinely Christmas focused games, it's a great game and music like this enhances the mood ten-fold. cakophon posted... are you serious i was literally just gonna do this 80/100 I love stuff like this, great way to get kids into the Christmas mood and a little fun for adults to get in on too. Espeon posted... Krampus movie 80/100 Just rewatched this last night. I actually enjoyed it less than when I first watched it back in 2015 but it's still a fun little film. It's like the spiritual successor Christmas Vacation deserved, though perhaps with a slightly less scary monster than its "real" sequel. Somehow, every character in this manages to be even more of a massive dick than in Lampoon's, and part of the thrill of Krampus is just seeing these ill-fitting family members try to get along, yes, in ways you've seen before, but also with this threat of horror bringing them closer together and revealing their true personalities. It cannot be understand how terrific Krampus' sound and creature design is either. While I don't think this film quite does for Christmas what Dougherty's previous holiday effort Trick 'r Treat did for Halloween, it's still a great alt. Christmas film the whole family can enjoy. Tangentially, the rise of Krampus in American culture is definitely some weird overnight phenomena I would've never saw coming. I think I first saw him in the League episode "A Krampus Carol" and I don't think I even realized he was actually a real folkloric figure at the time. Did The League partly inspire Dougherty's Krampus? I friggin' hope so. --- Bare feet on the tile with my head up in the clouds https://imgur.com/1e1e70S - https://imgur.com/a/bHIYzis ...
