Hes responsible for being a part of the negotiations the entire time. He had plenty of time to give input well before a few days before the deal was done, let alone not making it clear it was a dealbreaker until after it was passed. If he was serious about having input on the deal, he would have done so in a timely manner.

He has said about larger stimulus checks for months now. Just admit you were mistaken here and move on. I have already shown that and sourced it. You can find legitimate reasons to hate your president. You don't have to make phony reasons up.

And he backed down to the other Republicans and the bill was agreed to without the $2000 checks (including with the White Houses agreement)

This isnt hard to understand. Trump made a deal and then went back on it after time was up. He knows its not gonna happen, but it does fuck Congressional Rs who hes pissed at for not backing his voter fraud shit.

So the GOP's play is obviously going to be load the package with non-starters and try to say Dems are voting against checks but I think the voter fraud bit in particular is overplaying this because while most people might not know/care about Section 230 the voter fraud bit is obviously him pouting and being a sore loser and attaching that to checks is lol.

Of course, in a sane world this play doesn't work at all because the House just passes $2k checks by itself and the media and people rightly see that the Senate GOP just wants no part of it and the blame lies squarely at them but given how atrocious media coverage has been for years now I assume everyone will gloss over McConnell not bringing the House proposal up and instead scream "WHY AREN'T PELOSI AND THE DEMS VOTING FOR THE SENATE BILL!?"

I personally am interested in Bill Gates idea to stop global warming based on reflective particles in the atmosphere and the science behind whether it could or couldn't work. If you aren't, then that's cool. You can cry to someone else though about being offended I hardly care.

Anywho, what is the actual science behind the idea of participates that could reflect some sun rays from the sun to prevent warming. The article talks about how it is generally looked down upon from scientists and could cause a lot of problems, the person who linked it was obviously an anti-Gates person and insinuated Gates was trying to end the world. I of course think if Gates is behind it that it has some viability and could generally be a good idea, though I wonder how exactly we could regulate how much or to remove it when global cooling cycles come back.

Has anyone heard of this idea before or how viable it possibly could be?

Personally I don't see the problem with doing both. It should be possible to be better about greenhouse emissions while at the same time taking steps to test science that might help counteract global warming.

The aerosol idea has been around for a long time as far as I'm aware. I don't know how seriously it's been treated compared to other methods for mitigating climate change though (carbon capture/sequestration, green energy, etc.) I think there's a lot of concern about not quite knowing the results of doing it on a large scale, much like seeding the ocean with iron (which some people attempted illegally years ago).

so two vaccine stories happening.

first, on AstraZeneca:
they claim that they've figured out a way to make it 100% effective against severe reactions to covid that require hospitalization. still haven't provided the data but it was just announced yesterday and we'll see how that goes. this is important since it's also much easier to make and transport, making it both cheaper and better to produce on a massive scale. doesn't mean you can't get it, does mean that it'd prevent the worst effects. at least, that's based on the specific phrasing used and we should see more on this by thursday since it may be rolled out then in the UK.

second, on the current vaccines:
people starting to understand the pfizer/moderna vaccines more and noticing the specific language. chief scientist of WHO pointed out that there's no evidence yet on the vaccines regarding their ability to prevent infections/transmission. technically this has been known from the start - that efficiency was based on that specific language of symptomatic infection, not sure how the specifics break down further (e.g., is the 94% reduction a reduction in severity or in all people) but the gist of it remains the same: we know it helps the host but we don't know what that says to how contagious the host still is or how much it can spread. so you're infected but for how long and how contagious? is it the same result as being asymptomatic or is it different since you may technically have a higher viral load?

pfizer did say earlier in the month they're researching more stuff and will release early 2021. but it's a good thing to note to those who get the vaccine that more data's needed on what they're doing as the last thing any of 'em need is someone who has the vaccine to turn into a super spreader too.
