When we make plans to meetup, I dont care if you text late. Whatever. But dont say were gonna meetup, go M.I.A. for three days and then pop back up ONLY when I text something saying I feel hurt.

I have SO many friends who do this shit. They suck ass at texting and dont answer calls.

I did a test two days ago and sent two paragraphs in a three man group text. The first paragraph was just generic praise that I am glad theyre friends. But in paragraph two, I asked if they were free to do something next weekend. One of them heartd the text, but no response. Its so obvious these people dont actually read the message!

Hell, one friend was literally drinking because she was bored apparently, and I suggested we play games at my house the next day since covidmania is depressing her. She suggests to come over that night instead, and then disappears! Im thinking she got into an accident and stressing myself out about it. Three days later, I tell her if she just changed her mind, that it hurt, and SUDDENLY she wants to respond after three days of me asking if something happened with my grandma died.

Fuck you. When my grandma died, I still was able to fucking tell people my grandma passed, a little down, cant talk now.

For you to see my texts asking if something was wrong, choose to ignore responding until I make a big deal about it, makes you a giant baby that cant communicate.

Fuck these millennials. Learn how communicate!

Getting upset that someone didn't immediately notify you about their grandma passing away demonstrates glaring social ineptitude on your part. If you can't understand that not everyone's going to be comfortable sharing that when they're grieving then maybe they're better off ghosting you entirely

Nah, not buying it. Ive had this friend for nearly a decade. I was the only non-family member there when she tried to commit suicide. Amongst other things.

You dont have context. Thats fine. Im venting. Not tryna get gamefaq on my side.

People take each other for granted. A former classmate of mine committed suicide a few days ago due to depression. He reached out to multiple people trying to talk and many of them flat out ignored him. It was frustrating seeing many of them comment on how they saw he messaged them but didnt bother to respond and now they regret ignoring him.

Now, if my friend told me their grandma died after a few days of silence, I wouldnt be mad at them for that but thats just me.

This makes me feel very happy for my friends and most of my family. I don't take them for granted because they know how to communicate.

I don't think anyone expects you to sit by your phone and text everything immediately....but they never take three days to respond to me on anything.

Like I have another friend I met at my last job that I talked with. But it became clear the only one reaching out was me. So I offered to get brunch a weekend, and she said sure, and shell let me know when shes free.

Since Im not a damn idiot, I had zero expectations of her actually following up, and she ofc didnt. I waited a week and tried hitting her up, and silence.

But I shit you not, a full month later, she answers the question I asked last like she didnt just vanish for a month. Four exchanges later, she needs a favor and the real reason she replied surfaces.

Like, fuck people like this. Theyre fun to talk to, which is why it sucks, but seriously. Fuck every single one of them.

You know what you're reminding me of right now? The Zoey 101 episode about Chase's grandma. They throw a whole birthday party for the guy, and he suddenly disappears. Zoey is all upset because she spent all that time and money preparing the party until Michael tells her his grandma died. Then she was no longer upset and wanted to console him.

That was actually one of the very good episodes from that show. You should be more like Zoey.

Ive lost both grandparents, two uncles, and my dog who grew up with me and my abusive father.

I still had the fucking respect and consideration to tell my friends I wasnt in the mood to talk or to respond in the 24 hours a day I have.

ESPECIALLY if I had to change plans on someone.

I dont dig it. Ill respect your grieving, but we disagree on whats acceptable in a friendship.

Things are different now, unfortunately. Nobody messages and communicates like they did back in the late-90s/early-2000s, and that's just how it is. Only thing I can suggest is try to stop messaging people. They don't do text messages/IMs/DMs/PMs, and they don't even talk in chat rooms. And considering how they're all terrified of phone calls, I'm even more surprised you try actually calling them.
