The Snyder Cut is going to drive me insane. It's just too weird. Zack Snyder is going to be responsible for turning me into the Joker.

To be completely fair, most of the reactions I see are "this is unmistakably better than the original cut" and a lot of pontificating on directorial control of cookie-cutter superhero movies being a step forward. More "interesting" than a "good" movie. I don't even think those are incorrect takes. It's just that "worth watching actually" is still much more positive than I expected.

True but Metacritic is a different sample (29 reviews). The average rating for Rotten Tomatoes is 6.7. So yeah mostly in the 3-3.5/5 camp, but frankly Im surprised that its any kind of good!

I think WW84 is worse than original JL because it is actively offensive and insulting to you as you just see the obvious flaws in the movie and logic lapses, on top of it being a shitty movie. And it had to live up to the original WW which was outstanding.

Justice League is just a shitty movie, which is what everyone expected, and it doesn't pretend to be anything other than a boring, overwrought mess of stupidity.

But then you have a four hour disaster film by Snyder incoming and even if this movie ends up being better, you still have to understand this smug asshole wants you to sit there watching it for four hours. Which is just such a terrible ask for any viewer.

I still hate BVS the most, the only time I've left a movie angry other than Zoolander 2.

I don't know when I'll actually be able to get myself to watch this. That's just...a lot of movie.

I do think it's funny that the thing that's trending because of this is not the Snyder Cut itself, but instead those people now yelling to release the Ayers Cut of Suicide Squad. This is why you don't give an inch to these people.

Listen, the Snyder bros are the worst but I AM still salty we didn't get the Edgar Wright version of Ant-Man. I will accept the Snyder Cut as a necessary evil if it leads to studio executives backing the hell off when directors try to do weird superhero shit.

You know man, I have actually told people Zoolander 2 is the worst movie I've ever seen in theaters and it almost became the only movie I ever walked out of.

Like Zoolander 2 is so bad and so relentlessly unfunny, and Will Ferrell was the only entertainment element in it.

But it was SO BAD it made me question if the first Zoolander was actually funny or if I was actually a stupid god damn moron for ever watching and enjoying the first one.

If I had to guess, Ayer has been on record about how much studio execs made him change the movie and how he had a lot more ideas.

So they probably want him to create a 4 hour horror show. However, I feel like I trust Ayer a lot more to make a decent film without WB exec's notoriously obtrusive fingers in it than I do Zack "I think comic book superheroes suck" Snyder.

I went through the exact motions. Will Ferrell is amazing in it, but he's barely in it until the end, his best stuff is in the trailers, and it's amazingly clear he was not even actually on set at the same time as the other actors with how the editing is handled. I immediately rewatched the first one after getting home just to make sure, and it absolutely still holds up.

Zoolander 2 is probably my most hated movie. Obviously not just straight up the worst but I do despise it more than any other.

When credits started rolling on opening day, my roomate I was with literally put his hands on his mouth to project his voice and yelled "What the fuck WAS that?" I even remember the inflection, lol. I couldn't even be embarrassed because I was I was in agreement.

Does not help that we saw it literally back to back with Deadpool since they came out at the same time. What a mood killer.

Rotten Tomatoes has always been extremely generous to general movie ratings, if a review is lukewarm to a movie they'll still count it as "positive" most of the time. Since they're whole shtick is based around being "fresh" or not, as opposed to something like Metacritic that actually takes into account the scores themselves. Not that Metacritic is perfect at all but I generally like to have both RT and Metacritic looks to see where a movie falls

What is hilarious is that Snyder thinks he's a genius film maker.

Like this asshole can't make a superhero movie in under 2.5 hours, which is still too much, and people want to say this guy is a next level film maker. Like fuck you that you can't make this movie watchable without making it 4 hours long. How much of this movie will be bullshit that doesn't need to be in there? I'd wager at least half of it. The fact Joker is in there at all is proof positive of that.

The critic gets to decide if a RT review is positive or negative. Its why you get 3 star reviews that are positive and 3 star reviews that are negative. FWIW it does average scores as well so you can see if its something like Interstellar or Wolf of Wall Street that got high scores but a higher percentage of negative review, or say, Deadpool, which got a lot of more middling recommendations.

Yep RT sucks imo, it encourages studios to go as blandly safe as possible. A movie that everyone thinks is 'fine' can get 100% (*looks at MCU*) while a movie that many think is great but some don't like can get 80% or wtv, yet people treat it like 100%=perfect rating.

I just assume most Snyder superfans are college-aged folks and the like who are just beginning to get into cinema as an artform.

Probably looking for more Jared Leto Joker. Maybe a scene that lets you know if he's damaged or not. That was one major failing of Suicide Squad, I couldn't tell if Joker was damaged.

Whats up with the recent wave of Birds of Prey hate? It came out, got good reviews and a mostly positive audience response, not amazing, but solid. Seemed fairly open and shut. Since The Snyder Cut started to surface Ive seen people just going off at it with no apparent motovation.

Birds of Prey got that stigma of "Only the right wing incels hate this movie because it stars women" thing upon release, so that may be why you don't remember it getting a ton of legitimate hate. And there were a lot of those types that did hate it!

But rest assured, it's an very bad movie with plenty of reason for people to hate it. On many levels it is a real mess.

Birds of Prey is decent, but it doesn't stand out as particularly memorable despite the stellar cast. For instance I could tell you a lot more about BvS or Suicide Squad (in bad ways) than I could for BoP and I saw that a lot more recently. For goodness's sake! The thing I remember most about BoP is a friggin' egg and cheese sandwich! It goes without saying it wasn't good enough to be mentioned in the same sentence as Aquaman, Shazam, or WW, but it was a fun romp with some nice fight choreography and a nice style even if it was terribly lacking in substance.
