Sounds like the solution is obvious. The dog can't eat cat food and shit at 3 am if you let it sleep outside with proper precautions in place.

I qualified the statement "with proper precautions in place" but since your reading comprehension seems to be acting up, here's more stuff for you to misread.

How much square footage in your house does your dog have access to? Apparently not food. And since you try and limit the space with baby gates, it's even less space. It's probably not anywhere near enough space for a dog its size.

Theres only two rooms in the entire house they arent allowed in. Utility room and fiancs room, because both have pet food inside.

They have free roam otherwise, and sleep with us.

We have 3 cats, feed them once per day. But they just pick at it, and sometimes some dry food will be left when you go to fill it the next day.

I woudn't bother again, tbh. You should only get one chance with you. Should be her loss. Having that attitude the whole times makes the other person try harder anyway. Always try and be the girl in the relationship but stop just shy of breastfeeding.

You need to put it away if they're not hungry. They may refuse to eat old food or worse, they'll keep eating even when they've eaten enough. Generally they like seeing that the food is available but they're not always great and knowing when to stop. They might be thinking that there won't be food later so they will eat as much as they can in one sitting.

You should also feed them more than once a day, smaller servings. They need to learn that there is in fact a schedule, and that they don't need to store fat. Make sure they get exercise. Nothing sadder than a cat that fails to make a jump cause his ass is so dummy thicc.
