Anyway, hurt my lower back this morning doing bent over rows. Immediately stopped so I cut my workout a little short. We'll see how crippled I am later. Atm I'm able to get around well enough but things like putting socks on are troublesome. Thankfully tomorrow is a rest day. I dont see it bothering me more than a week but less is better.

Week in review: Diet went okay. Definitely ate under maintenance but also drank a ton of water because it's suddenly in the 80s. My weight more or less stayed the same.

I have lost almost 30 pounds since early 2020. Lost 3 or 4 inches off my waist to a 31 inch waist.

Been running pretty steady the whole time and will hit 100 miles for May.

Couple months back started daily pushups and pullups. Went from 25 to 45 pushups and from 1 (ugh) to 7 pullups.

Damn that's the hardest pull I've had since I started lifting a year and a half ago. I never had a problem breaking the bar off the floor until now at 312.5. the only struggles I've had were at lockout. That wasnt an issue today though

I haven't lifted weights in over a year due to the pandemic. But i'm finally going back to enroll around sometime next week.. finally.

Yet i've been doing soccer fitness for a year now (going to my local park). Sometimes doing pushups and such.

Perhaps. I doubt I could do 50 push-ups with strict form, though. You might think that because I can outlift you means I should be able to do more push-ups, but that's not necessarily true.

I'm used to doing heavy work with no more than 5 reps, so my body has developed more slow-twitch muscle fibers. If you're a rep beast, then yours has developed more fast twitch fibers. At least I think it works that way if I'm not mistaken. Either way, by this point, your body will be built to lean more towards endurance work than mine. Whereas mine is built to go Elder Scrolls orc berserk mode just a few times.

My issue is keeping my back straight. I can do 285 for 5 reps no problem. 290, I can't even keep my back straight on the first rep. I believe I've hit my plateau.

Well, to be fair, my form faltered on the last several pretty bad. Before that though, it was a straight back with my nose brushing the ground. It really is torture. I'd rather run 7 miles than any form of actual working out.

I did short 30 minute easy run tonight. I would have gone longer, but it looked like it was going to rain. Yesterday was a lot harder. I would like to do a race, but the 2 local ones I think of still appear to be cancelled due to lockdowns.

Just did 16 sets of abs and 16 sets of booty exercises! That's going to be a four-day-per-week occurrence until I go to the beach in about a month. That doesn't include my main lifting days that I will still do 3 days per week.

Ran 1 mile in the morning 3 days in a row, 5 total days in the last week. Did chest saturday, back sunday, legs this morning.

Ate a protein/blueberry shake (homemade)
Ate a chicken salary sandwich
Ate a homemade chicken salad for dinner with spinach, broccoli, carrots, avocado

Now I'm eating queso and chips lol

I have one month until the beach. I'm confident I'll have a presentable amount of muscle mass by then (hell, I already do), but I definitely want my belly to be smaller, with abs as visible as possible. So today I started tracking my macro nutrients.

Holy shit, I've been eating WAAAYYYY too much! To put it vaguely, without going into detail about macro nutrients, I could eat about 800-1000 fewer calories than I have been, based on a rough estimate of my lean body mass.

My new diet will be to shoot for this every day:

Calories: 2220
Protein: 180g
Fat: 60g
Carbs: 240g

My back is probably well enough to workout today but I think I'm just going to do a rest week instead and heal up properly. Plus my air conditioner conked out and I won't have a replacement until this weekend. The idea of lifting in muggy weather is unappealing. I'll just leave my workout at walks and those trumpet curls.

I've never done Kroc rows, but I know the form usually isn't super strict on them. I'm sick of screwing up my back with poor form on bent over barbell rows and want to switch to db ones to avoid injuries.

With the Krocs would you think im more likely to injure my lower back than standard ones? Or would that arm stabilizing me be plenty to not have to worry about it? I've never had db rows as part of my regular routine either so I'm not sure how much difference this makes.

I'd recommend starting with standard dumbbell rows and working your way to a decently-heavy weight before killing yourself with Kroc rows. You're right, the form is pretty loose for the purpose of banging out more reps. You want to have a good base on yourself before doing something like that.

You must have a stronger lower body than I, then. Assuming you're going parallel with your squats.

So, how about the day after I start tracking my macros, they give us a pizza party at work. Lol. I didn't want to be "that guy" so I indulged in three slices and a Dr Pepper. Since I already had a carb-heavy breakfast, I'm already past my carb limit. I can have nothing but tuna, protein shake, and eggs for the rest of the day.
