Holy shit Persona 5 came out 4 years and 10 months ago. It doesn't feel that old for some reason. Was also announced in November 2013.

Hoping for Persona 6 and ports. Though I wonder if P6 would get announced before Project Re Fantasy (announced December 2016) comes out...

I just need P3 FES HD Remaster and P4Golden on consoles. A P5Royal port on Switch would be nice too.

I can't even fathom Persona 6 right now but if it gets announced it is gonna top Elden Ring for my most anticipated game.

I think we'll get a P6 announcement, but I doubt we'll actually see anything about it for awhile.

Remakes of 1-3 are probably going to be the biggest things they show off.

Really hoping we get a P3 remake in the sense it will be a definitive edition with all of FES and Portable content without cutting out stuff and going VN mode. Doubt it will happen, but I can dream!

For a realistic wish P4G on console is absolutely doable. Otherwise Im not sure what else I want. Maybe another crossover game that isnt Q and more like a traditional JRPG.

I think I remember the core Persona team saying that P5 was their last, and that they were moving on to Re;Fantasy and handing the Persona series off but who knows if that's true

Again, I don't know if that's true or not, it's just rattling around in my head that P5 was the last ride for Hashino, Meguro, and the character designer (name escapes me at the moment).

I don't blame them though, tbh. Over the years they've perfected what they set out to do with Persona 3, so I think it makes sense for all parties involved to try and do something else. As much as I still love the formula maybe it's time for the series to start a new era.

P6 will have a lot of the same development staff, just a new director.

Looking at their releases, it looks like the Persona studio has worked on P3 Dancing, P5 Dancing, Persona Q2, and Persona 5 Strikers since Persona 5 came out (Q2 probably together with the EO studio).

Also hm, didn't realize these announcements were being made over the course of 12 months, starting in September (why is Shine so bad at posting info in topics like these?). That makes me all the more confident in P6 being one of them.

Hopefully it's a Persona 6 announcement with some changes to the formula. Persona 5 was great but the formula is getting repetitive. I would like to see some changes to make the game feel fresh.

in terms of expectations I'd say:
1. Persona 6 announcement (release far away)
2. P4 golden port to consoles
3. At least one port/re-release for p1/2 or 3, don't know what form
4. Some brand collaboration or stage play that nobody cares about outside of Japan
5. Some other multimedia project: manga/anime/live action/book etc
6. Maybe something involving a port of the Arena games to consoles/PC
7. Other side game announcement a la new strikers/dancing all night/ persona q/arena etc

IIRC the main criticism of Hashino is that most of peoples complaints with how LGBT characters are handled in the Persona team's games (so also Catherine, which he was actually a writer in too) are attributed to him. It's been a recurring issue since Persona 3. Don't know how much of it is him and how much is the culture at Atlus but he's the director and has said some sketch things in past interviews so it gets projected on to him.

I think it's a fair point, but personally as long as they cut this shit out it should be fine. However so far the problems have been recently fixed in localization and not in the original text so I won't hold my breath and would just judge it critically as it comes. For the record, SEGA has been pretty good on LGBT issues (they give employee benefits and the Yakuza series at least tries even if it's by no means perfect) so there's a chance they just tell the Persona team (Re Fantasy team?) to get with the program.

anyways aside from the discourse I mostly would like to see some god damn persona 2 ports

Persona 6 I would totally be ok for it to be a big departure from previous games. I wouldn't mind if instead of playing as a high schooler you're a salaryman or a baseball player or if in a highschool setting the story had you a lot more involved in a club activity.

P5 is also a top 10 game for me but not above criticism, so don't worry I'm not trying to hate!

And in any case, I'm not worried at all about the quality of Persona 6 after a director change because ATLUS is quite good at what they do and it looks like a lot of the dev team is staying. And hey, the rest of the SMT franchise is extremely good too so who cares! Frankly, if Meguro jumps ship that's a much bigger loss than anything else.

Meanwhile Re Fantasy I'm not getting excited for until we see something.
