So the girl Ive been seeing for like 5 months now always frequents a specific coffee shop. While shes out of town Im thinking of going up there and seeing if I can get her coffee for the rest of the year paid for.

Considering there's only two months left in the year I'd say do it.

Though it's a nice gesture, it's a bit extra when a simple gift card would suffice.

What if you break up? Would you be bitter that she would be drinking free coffee with someone else?

The point is you ramp up the relationship in steps.

This has nothing to do with the actual amount of money he'll spend, which probably isn't a ton. The gesture feels way over the top. If she's just some girl he's talking to at the coffee shop and he hasn't even hit 1st base yet, and suddenly he does a gesture like this that feels way over the top...it'll make him seem desperate and a bit weird.

If he's hit 2nd base at least, then I'd say okay fine, do it. But don't do the whole fucking year. Just get her a gift card.

Definitely don't do that. One thing you could do is try learning to make the coffee (see if you could buy the beans) and make some for her as a surprise. That would be something personal and you'd learn a skill.

Relatively cheap and thoughtful gifts are usually better than extravagant displays.

The are exceptions for special occasions, of course. I might do something like this for a first wedding anniversary or something.

There's something about it that's strange.

On one hand, the best part about it is that it's something that makes her life easier. That's nice. However, I think it's too much even for 5 months in. Get a more personalized gift, smaller, but more thoughtful.

The more I'm thinking about it, the more I think it's bad.

TC, if you do it, it might be you invading her every day life a little too much. Like, there's a possibility she'll feel an awkward pressure, like maybe, she'll think that you think she owes you because she has to be reminded of you every day with this particular activity.

Maybe not, but if I were you I wouldn't risk that, when I could just buy a smaller, nicer personalized gift.

He'd have to open a whole line of credit. They'd have to keep his card in the drawer and train new employees to only run the card when the one specific girl came in. It's impractical but adorable.

Lots of good advice in the topic but I think this is the best.

The only exception to this advice would be if you're really rich, don't care whether or not you score with this girl and just want to do something nice and make someone happy. In this case, knock yourself out. You cross the line when you do it expecting something in return (like sex) which will creep a girl the hell out especially if you haven't known her long. She'll take it and drop your ass every time.
