ok well i only got like 30 min in for Rise of Skywalker before i started feeling sleepy and my Disney Plus ran out. and i sure as hell am not going to seek this movie out through other means because i don't care enough. so that's it for my Star Wars phase. maybe i would have watched the prequels too if it had gone on long enough

anyway i'm going to look up spoilers

um so i'm missing a lot of context because i don't know all the characters and their backstories and whatnot which really begs the question why i was even watching these dumb things in the first place but i guess when the mood hits it hits. but yeah this still sounds really stupid.

first thing i had to get clear was that Palpatine was the name of The Emperor and that he had apparently died, which i guess was obvious in retrospect because he wasn't leading the Dark Side in these new ones. but either way he is somehow revived in the beginning and becomes the big bad for this movie in some kind of misguided fanservice gesture. also he is Rey's grandfather and this is the reason Rey is a Jedi/has that aptitude? So everything culminates in the final battle with Rey v. Palp and Kylo Ren comes at this time and has his moment of redemption. Lame. lame lame lame. everybody dies and everybody is revived. And then the ending of the movie is "Skywalker. Rey Skywalker" and i did like an inward-cringe/laugh when i read that line. now i kind of regret not watching the movie because i wonder what my reaction to that would have been.

i fucking looked up the ending clip and even though i knew it was coming i couldn't handle it. WHAT WAS THAT. what the fuuuuuk. why did they include Luke and Leia mirage as if it wasn't fucking corny enough already. and she just chose to give herself that name? you can't just do that with a famous name right.

watched Human Nature which was the only Charlie Kaufman-written work i hadn't seen yet

not 100% sure how i feel about it at the moment but it's definitely his worst. i was actually pretty surprised to be reminded it was AFTER Being John Malkovich

Watched Leprechaun for St. Patrick's day instead of the usual Child's Play weekly movies...
