So what ended up happening to all those orders? I can't see this regularly occurring unless either Door Dash or Mc Donalds just wants to keep throwing away money.

I was wondering this myself. Im guessing McDonalds doesnt care seeing as DoorDash already paid them. I remember seeing a TikTok a few months ago that if multiple drivers deny an order, DD eventually pays a driver more to pick it up? Not sure if thats true or not.

This is true. Base pay seems to go up in $0.25 increments as they cycle through drivers. Its not after every single decline since a buddy and I tested it, but Id imagine there is a # of drivers or timeframe built into an algorithm or something that triggers the increase.

Uber does something similar to this as well. Not sure about GrubHub

I seriously hope that Uber eventually catches onto you and bans you as a customer. The fact they havent yet if this is something youve done frequently speaks volumes to issues that Uber needs to remedy ASAP but, of course, wont.
Why would Uber care? They're not getting the tip money. And they can keep paying their "contractors" shit all.

I always tip the driver well. DoorDash will give me my money back if the delivery is messed up (literally only happened to me once).

I dont blame the driver if the order is wrong or missing something because its sealed up to show they didnt tamper with it so they cant exactly check it. As long as it gets to me on time they did their job and deserve a good tip.

I have never used a delivery service like this, and never will. Hell, I don't even get pizzas delivered any more, I place the order to be picked up by me.

If I'm so fucking lazy that I can't haul my ass down there to get it my damn self, I shouldn't be eating it.

this is bad logic. There are days where Im too busy to drive around picking up food, or Im just tired. I leave my house at 5am and get home around 5. Couple that with full time school and working out. I dont have time to be making food as much as I want. DoorDash is gold

It would be hard at my Chipotle because of where the shelves are, and the area where the store is Plus, they are constantly putting orders there

Restaurants aren't like Walmart where a shoplifter can go in buy some stuff and steal others. If you are going to steal to-go orders at a restaurant you have to specifically go to do that and likely only be able to do it once. There's also no way of even telling what you are going to get as you would have to rush in and grab whatever

Frankly there are much more productive ways of stealing food

Youre right, and why I said they wont do anything about it. Its one of the pros of doing DD vs UE, but DD has plenty of other shitty things about them on the driver side of things that offset that one pro. So as much as drivers can get pissed and say Im quitting Uber and doing DD only if they get tip baited, I dont think its really enough to cause drivers to drop it in large numbers.

I think Ive been tip baited 4x out of 500+ UE deliveries. Sucks when it happens, and you should definitely plan on having it happen occasionally, but the odds indicate that the vast majority of customers dont do it (fortunately).

This is not right at all. You have zero control over what orders DD sends you. Theres not a list you choose from. DD flashes up one order and you get to accept or reject it, thats it. All you can really control is how close you are to a restaurant that might be pinging orders, since the closet driver is generally going to be sent the order.

Furthermore, McDs has an agreement with DD whereby a driver can only deliver one of their orders at a time. With other restaurants, DD might stack an order so the driver is doing 2 at a time. Thatll never be the case with a McDs ever though. One at a time only.

Tipping for something like this seems ridiculous to me honestly. You are literally paying a charge for delivery. Any costs and payment required to the driver should be included in the charge for delivery, not tacked on as some kind of guilt trip on top. I don't think I would ever pay a tip on a service like this, it's just Doordash/Uber being tightasses and wanting to increase prices without looking like it.

That sucks, then. They would probably be able to get more drivers to take the orders if they had a bunch in the same area. They probably dont want to do that so food doesnt get cold waiting for too long if traveling to multiple houses. But food might also get cold if no one comes to pick it up for a while because they want more tips

We only have GH in my area, and they have been hit or miss. One time I didn't get any of my order at all, but they did quickly refund my money. That was back when every place was drive- thru only and I don't have a car. Now every place is opened up so I can go get my own stuff.

Our local Burger King said to hell with the delivery apps and does delivery orders themselves, when they have enough people working that is.

That reminds me of the Chicken Express in my area. I asked if they delivered once a bunch of years ago, and he said Hold on. And then I heard him yelling to his co-workers asking if a specific person had their car today, and then they said yes, he told me yes. Its was very weird. Haha. But I guess they delivered when they could

Drivers see how far the total drive is, the cost of their fare plus tip, and where to pick up the food before they choose to accept it. The rule of thumb is $2 per mile driven to make the most profit. If you see an order for McDonalds and the fare is $4 for a 5 mile drive, why take that when you can accept a $20 fare for a similar drive distance?

dont get mad at drivers, theyre just hustling

I always tip 3 bucks on doordash and maybe a little extra to make the total an even dollar amount. That's how much the delivery is worth. Especially with how bad a lot of the dashers in my area are.

And no, you cannot edit tips in DD. I had an amazing dasher one time and was actually going to give them a little extra but they don't allow it cause obviously shitty people would just post fake tips to lure in faster service.

I have a full time job, hobbies, and a kid who is hitting his stride with after school activities. I'm not made of time either. If you can afford to double the cost of the meal for the convenience of not having to take a 15 minute trip to get it, more power to you.

I personally choose not to do that. If my post seemed like an attack, I didn't mean it that way.

People need to realize being delivered food while you sit on your fat ass is a luxury, not a right.

Go get it yourself or tip accordingly. Dont blame drivers. Ten years ago it wasnt option to have your food delivered by damn near any restaurant. Pay for the service or just dont use it.

Shit takes time, gas(which is expensive), and puts wear and tear on your car. Its not going to be cheap.

Youre not buying anything. Youre entering a contract that has to be accepted in order to be completed. DoorDash is just the middleman facilitating the transaction and they take a fee for doing so.

Its really not a hard concept to grasp. Dashers are by no means obligated to accept your order if you dont pay a reasonable price.

Youll be refunded if the order isnt complete so I dont know why youd think you bought or are entitled to delivery. It is 100% a luxury.

Then getting your food is optional. Its that simple.

This is maybe the dumbest shit Ive ever read on this site. For your food to be delivered, the dasher has to accept the order. They are not obligated. Ive said this multiple times now.

Sure, you have the option not to tip but they have the option not to deliver it. I dont get why people that are so skilled have a tough time grasping this simple concept. Youre playing roulette just as much as the driver is.

Its not a job. Its contract work.
