14 is higher than minimum wage. Livable wage is a different discussion to expectations of a tip.

I went to a place that served chicken a few weeks ago, and for 30 minutes, all the orders coming out of the back were for doordash/grubhub.

This happens at Chipotle sometimes. I was next in line and waited for the worker to make like 5 burritos before I could even start my bowl

They really need to build more ghost kitchens. A ghost kitchen is just a kitchen without a store front, and would do nothing but fulfill online orders

Also, people should tip for curve-side pickup bullshit.

Bullshit it's not. A full time job at 14 bucks an hour is almost 30k a year before taxes. If you can't live off that either move out of New York/California or stop making bad choices.

I think its just dependent on where you live. I make $17/hour and I cant afford to live alone. I had to move back home to save up.

People need to also need to acknowledge the labor shortage, if wages cant pay the bills no one is going to sign up for the job. Also DoorDash probably has insurance for food loss, theyre not stupid

I don't tip ubereats or deliveroo. They charge half the value of the food to deliver anyway. If they can't pay their own drivers from that then they shouldn't be in business.

Not sure about deliveroo but the whole point of using uber was that you didnt have to tip in the first place. That went well until people complained and brainwashed them into adding tips

A "pre tip" isn't a thing. A tip is a monetary incentive to provide good service, its not an upfront cost. Do a good job, get tipped. Thats the objective definition of tipping.

I hope most of us get it. I get it. It's not a common type of transaction. It's, in my opinion, ludicrous that you are bidding for a fast-pass on food that has already been paid for, in addition to the already paid cost for transportation (that you'd think [and technically does] include the cost of the driver's wages). Because it exists doesn't mean that we have to agree with it.

maybe you should calm your tits and realize not everyone is going to know what it looks like from the dasher/uber eats delivery driver's perspective. for some services they don't even see the tip until after the delivery is already completed
