Savages have an entirely different second half of the fight. It's more than just additional hit points, it has a bunch of new mechanics and a set timer ("enrage") that if you can't do enough damage quickly enough automatically wipes the entire party. Compared to regular, savages require significant and ongoing coordination between the entire party and consistently high dps. In the opening days of a Savage even a single character dying can cause the entire party to fail to do enough damage before the enrage timer goes off.

Generally, Savage content, especially when it's brand new, is reserved for guilds and statics. Groups of individuals that know each other, can set aside time to practice, and are coordinating over a discord or some other voice chat.

It's extremely difficult to get good and clear a Savage that just came out if you're not in one of those two groups. By the time people are hitting party finder they already know the mechanics and are just grinding in between clears.

This post is mostly false, unless raiding culture varies significantly between Data Centers. Usually it is only the last and maybe second to last savage fight that are difficult to clear early in a new raid tier through party finder

Damn, sorry to hear. Last time I was raiding in Eden's Gate I pugged and cleared the first three savage fights week one. I'm not much of a raider either, last I had raided before that was Sigmascape where I think I cleared the first two fights week one semi-pugging.

i just picked this up, but havent played in like, 2 months. i remember the last thing i did was getting my sb relic. guess ill pick up from there.

I don't think you're looking at the fresh prog parties.

People want to clear and are tired of people wiping the party. Maybe it's a bit extreme but understandable when you are ready to clear but people who join your party for several hours are not.

Been doing P1S prog with pugs and some fc mates last 2 nights and damn, even if its a mixed bag Im having so much fun with it. People should really give this content a shot, its honestly not that hard and week 1 you can easily find fresh prog on pf or start your own party.

Unless it's a different pair than the one I'm thinking of, the leggings from the first Nier raid made the character's ass bigger. It was listed as a bug (although I'm suspicious that Yoko Taro had it done on purpose) and fixed but the fanbase complained so hard they put it back in:

I spent forever looking for skirts without leggings that had the right texture when I do dye it. Too many turn shiny in the crotch. Same with the right boots. Didn't want leggings and pants would not work unless I dropped the boots. And I figured cute forest outfit, perfect time to use the literal gun staves.

Me regretting not selling 3 of my cloth of happiness for 1 mil while prices were at 1.85 mil. By the morning I had sold one for half a mil then in undercutting wars only managed to get 300k for the last two. ;-;

Oh Christ you don't actually believe that do you? Did you know that Ice Cream makes people drown? If you look at the chart below you'll see it to be an objective fact.

Correlation does not equal causation. More people go swimming and thus more people drown. Now in FFXIV the simple truth is that Balmung and by extension Crystal has fewer raiders. That's it. The players aren't worse, they're just choosing not to engage in the endless gear treadmill and instead hang out with their friends or filming Youtube videos.

The mental gymnastics people go through to pretend that Balmung is some unholy land of degenerate ice mages is baffling. There's almost no difference in skill level between the servers. The only difference is that Gilgamesh got crowded because people started calling it the raid server. That also means that every single bad player hoping to get carried (or delusional players thinking they're not being carried) also flocks to Gilgamesh fleeing the "evil roleplayers". That's why I find Primal and Crystal far more stable in terms of raiding experiences. Gilgamesh has an ocean of bad beneath it's small pool of good players.

Also, even if we were to take this data at face value. Gilgamesh only has a 5% advantage on Balmung it looks like. I'd still take the "objectively 5% worse" players if it meant the more consistent clears and / or the players were more pleasant to be around. Gilgamesh is easily the most toxic server in the game.

Maybe it's just cuz it came after ShB I can't help but compare it to that. Like, I can't say anything was actually bad, but nothing really blew me away like many moments in ShB did.

The first half of the story I'd say is a 10/10. Everything with the Ilsabard contingent got me pumped, and how somber everything was while you were in Garlemald was done really well. But the backhalf of the story just felt kinda...idk, routine to me? Again, not actually "bad," but nothing to really surprise me. Things didn't really feel like they clicked with me like they should.

I also don't like Zenos, so that might contribute to something. I thought they might do something out of left field with him, like say his one-dimensional joy for battle is enough to offset the despair Meteion had collected -- to sort of justify why they'd kept him around for so long -- but nah. He felt like an afterthought, and a weird note to end on. Made me double down on wishing he stayed dead after StB.

It's still overall like a 8.5/10 for me, which is about what I'd put HW. It only loses outright to ShB.
The last area + dungeon is definitely really cool, though. Very creative. Wasn't expecting it.

I'm still digesting everything, though, since I literally just finished it like an hour ago, so my opinions may change. But beating it just had me going, "Alright, well that was neat."

Zenos was an answer to Meteion's question. He found his reason for living and it was combat, he said it was the sole pleasure in life he knew and the sole pleasure he had to offer the world. Alisaie's words actually got to him because he realized he would have to care about our plight if he wanted to reach his goal thus he helped us in Ultima Thule.

I'll freely confess that I'm a sucker for the story trope in the last area. It got me good in Tales of Symphonia, and it got me good here in Endwalker.

The Ea people and the Omicrons really hit me hard, those are all concepts that I'm interested in so it had me hooked.

Yeah I picked up on that. I thought it was interesting that Zenos of all people would be the one to posit an acceptable answer to Fandaniel's question, but I felt like I was reading too much into at the time since it didn't really play into how things got resolved. Maybe I'm undermining his significance because I don't care for him, but I feel like the thematic connections there were a bit sloppy.

Yeah, that was all cool. I liked the shell people in the dungeon the most since they were dealing with a sort of pandemic, where their civilization fell from everyone turning on each other. Felt kinda scary with what's going on now.

Is there voice chat in this game, or at least speech to text chat?

What are the data centers, there are names like Gilgamesh and Crystal? How do I know which one to pick

No but console can use a USB keyboard and most phones can handle discord if you ever raid.

And gilgamesh is a server, data centers are things like crystal and aether. Data centers have a handful of servers on them and your matchmaking will be limited to players of the same data center. At least for now. How to choose? Unless you want to role play or raid, just go with whatever one is open in your region and sounds coolest. Maybe check for a Facebook page and find player groups for the servers and ask around to have a free company (guild) to join.

I don't know if the home world transfer service is available atm but you should be able to transfer without losing anything. If you meant something else: data center visit is not yet in-game, but it will probably have similar restrictions to world visit. You'd need to create a different character from scratch to play on a different data center, otherwise
