How well would you handle it?

The ending of that movie is kinda disturbing.

The last thing you remember is playing your favorite video game, the age you are now in your home. Then you wake up tomorrow morning to find yourself not in your home but instead a penthouse in California. Your body is aching and in confusion you go to the bathroom to splash water in your face. You don't remember any of it but somehow some kind of muscle memory is letting you realize where the bathroom and mirror is. When you look in the mirror you see a chubby older man with graying hair looking back at you.

Eventually you come across a tape in an obvious position with a note saying "Play me" you press play and find a video of yourself and looking younger and a girl explaining that you have memory loss after the incident and forget every day after December 23rd 2021 the moment the day ends.

The video explains a hell of a lot, it's now the 2040s, you have a loving Irish wife, Siobhn and 2 kids, Jim and Bexley. Your family is dead, South Korea has conquered North Korea, you're living in Los Angeles etc

You go downstairs and there's the wife from the tape (a woman you don't recongize) with 2 kids you don't know eating breakfast and there's a seat prepared for you. The younger kid runs up and hugs your leg going "Daaaaaaddy!" and the woman in a loving but bored-casual voice goes "Hey sweetie, so is it going to be an easy one or a hard one this morning [Firstname]?"

The older kid goes "Hard one mom. Look how dumb he looks today. You can just tell it's gonna be bad again."

You have no memory of any of it.

How would you react?
How do you think you would cope?
What would you do?

I'd be pretty upset that I've lost 20 years of my life, including meeting this lady, having kids, etc.

But otherwise, I'd learn how to cope I guess. Not much else you can do.

I already have a safe word that I tell myself that whatever I say in tape is the truth

Then I just accept and power through

Go back to bed.

Maybe bang the wife first if she's hot.

My point is that losing 20 years of life would be the worse part rather than the strange new situation. I'll be near retirement age in the 2040s.

In this type of situation usually one losses their memory after found to sleep at night. I train myself to take 5 minute power naps throughout the day so that I can remember some stuff.
