I appreciate Covid is a fairly unique situation so should sit outside the norm but it does potentially open up the doors to conversations about denying hospital care for other people where there injuries are deemed "self inflicted".

Have to go to hospital because you are obese? Too bad you should lose weight. Have to go to hospital because you broke you leg skiing? Too bad you should have done something less dangerous! Self harm? Alcoholism? Drug addicts? Where will people draw the line?

It's definitely a weird thing. Anti-vaxxers bash scientists, epidemiologists, biologists, doctors, nurses, hospitals, the CDC, WHO, etc. all day long. They act as if their "research" into the matter gives them more expertise when it comes to handling pandemics and illnesses in general.

Then when they get severe covid infections, they're rushing to hospitals in droves.

Yup. They talk all kinds of shit on science and then just run RIGHT back into the arms of it when they get sick. It really show that this is 100% about owning the libs and nothing more. The hilarious irony is, the only people they are owning at this point is themselves. The republican party at this point is just killing itsef.

This. If bad decision making is grounds for denying treatment then we might as well enforce it across the board.

It's truly despicable that we've gotten here and the future is frightening.

Nah, it really doesn't. When these fat/skier/whatever people are hitting up the hospitals in such droves that they literally can't take them all in (or can only do so by turning others away), then we'll entertain this "conversation". Until then, this is just a pointless slippery slope argument.

Strider, in the reality of things, you are clutching onto straws as an argument. What about people who have to go to hospital for treatment who are ill from covid, but they got all their vaccines?. Those same doctors and nurses are still at the same equal risk from the same pathogen.

Paramedics and Firefighters are at risk of catching things like hepatitis from bloodied casualties. These people know the risks but have chosen to brave it in their choice of profession.

The number of people vaccinated who require medical treatment because of COVID are significantly lower then those who go "fuck the vaccine".

Doctors and nurses are typically vaccinated as well but it doesn't save them from overwork and stress.
