years back, there appeared to be widespread concern about the harm that artificial scarcity of expertise and institutions was causing to the cost/convenience/availability of healthcare in the united states.

in a way it's really come to a head, with the sector's deficiencies at scale on display in all their glory, but the aforementioned discussion on scarcity has seemingly fallen by the wayside now in favor of scapegoating the unvaccinated. without a doubt they're exacerbating the problem, but they are not the root cause of it.

Strider, in the reality of things, you are clutching onto straws as an argument. What about people who have to go to hospital for treatment who are ill from covid, but they got all their vaccines?. Those same doctors and nurses are still at the same equal risk from the same pathogen. In actual fact, most people in hospital with covid are fully vaccinated. So to say that its anti vaxxers mainly filling the hospitals up with covid is statistically incorrect.

Paramedics and Firefighters are at risk of catching things like hepatitis from bloodied casualties. These people know the risks but have chosen to brave it in their choice of profession.

Literally the number as of December 2021 was 61% of people in ICU with Covid were unvaccinated.

Again, if the malady at issue had a shot to prevent it then this would be an apt comparison.

Probably a great majority of the antivaxxers are "work from home" people. I work in the medical field and have been forced to work in this mess since DAY ONE! The work from home people are some of the ones who go unvaxxed but can't keep their asses at home!

An antivaxxer who died of the alpha virus wasn't able to spread the more contagious Delta variant, because they died.

An antivaxxer who died of the Delta variant wasn't able to spread omicron, which is 20x more contagious than the alpha virus.

Antivaxxers dying of covid is objectively not a bad thing and that's not my fault the situation became this way

This is obviously the wrong solution. Care should be provided. But paying for that care should not be subsidized by the majority of people that can make a well informed decision and get a vaccine. Any red blooded, anti socialist, republican, should agree with that. Insurance premiums should be higher if you dont have a vax and care should be more expensive.

We know that they directly put the rest of us at risk, whether that be due to their continuous spreading of the virus which allows mutation of new variants (we've seen this twice now as far as variants that are of concern) along with putting us at risk should we have a non covid medical emergency.
