If hospitals were to give advance notice that after X date, unvaccinated covid patients will be denied, they would have enough time to get vaccinated. If they still choose not to, then it's simply a matter of dealing with the consequences of their choice.

The chuds are the people that are supporting that those who chose not to be vaccinated, but need hospital treatment for it, should just be allowed to die. This is medically unethical.

Ive also heard this argument made aswell.......... "but its unfair on doctors and nurses to see patients die from covid". Doctors and nurses in hospitals actually have to stand by and do nothing and watch a patient die if they choose to refuse treatment based on their religious beliefs. At least Smackems has got some sense. Time for Zodd3224 to be blocked now.

There's a level of triage going on already, chances of effective treatment being weighed against available resources.

Why is everyone saying that all covid patients that get hospitalized die? Most of them don't even get a ventilator.

I personally know 4 that survived the hospital and 1 that died.

Covid conditions in an ICU are slightly more serious than your anecdotes.

People shouldn't be turned away, but I'm sick and tired of these crocodile tears.

Anti-vaxxers are saying that they don't trust doctors and other healthcare workers and think they are either lying to them and withholding the correct treatments because they are Nazis or because they want money from Big Pharma. Why would an anti-vaxxer want to go to the hospital? Or to ever participate in modern medicine ever again?

That would be like calling your co-worker a psychopathic, baby-eating sack of shit and then asking them to babysit your children whenever your first option is busy.

It's the same mentality you see in any retail setting. If the store is so bad and everyone sucks so much, shop elsewhere.

Just wondering your take on the organ transplant waiting list. Due to the massive shortage of organs, a lot of people are not allowed on the waiting list or put way low priority due to their choices that harm their own health. Or even just cause they wont live long enough to benefit the most of the the organ.

Typically they don't get put on life support in the first place, since those are resources that could be used to save someone else. If they are then yeah, that equipment is wasted on them and we can have one dead patient instead of two.

I appreciate Covid is a fairly unique situation so should sit outside the norm but it does potentially open up the doors to conversations about denying hospital care for other people where there injuries are deemed "self inflicted".

They literally do get to choose, based on priority. If someone comes in with a gunshot wound they are treated before others as one example. Anti-vaxxers should be the absolute bottom priority, even below kids with a stubbed toe or someone with a cold looking for a doctors certificate

Well yeah, it's mostly them deciding which unvaccinated patient gets to die, seeing as ~75% of the hospital admits and deaths are unvaccinated.

I have noticed a few observations from the course of this thread

1) False Dichotomies or/and Fallacy of Composition's are being committed...........why are some posters in this thread making out that every single person who has not been vaccinated, is the raving lunatic kind who are conspiracy believers, deny that covid even exists, and are full on anti-vaxxers. People that are against vaccines, drugs and medicines in general. There's plenty of people out there who just chose not to be vaccinated, simply because they dont feel the drug is safe yet, but concede that covid exists, and respect other peoples choices.

2) Positions of the goalposts are now shifting. During the course of this thread, why have we gone from, having to argue against what Howard Stern said, which was "all those who didnt get vaccinated, should not be treated in hospital, they should just go home and die" to...... "so what about if all the ICU units in hospitals are too over populated with covid sufferers who didnt get vaccinated, but there's many who need to be treated who did?". That was not Howard Sterns stance was it?.

I think people are now posing hypothetical situations across that probably arnt even happening. I think hospitals bacilly work like this.............someone goes to hospital or gets taken to hospital because they need to be treated for something and they get treated for it. Thats the role of a hospital. I dont think there is a selection process at all. I dont think someone goes to hospital with covid, and some judge in the hospital goes "well you didnt get vaccinated, sorry we aint gonna treat you, this should be for those who got vaccinated". Someone else in this thread posed "well there is a selection process that goes on with organ transplants, there arnt enough organs to treat every person who needs a transplant. Obviously the process is, you give it to the person who essentially needs it the most. You give it to the person who wont live to see another 2 calendar months without it, over the person who can live without the transplant, but they just wont be as healthy without the transplant.

I dont think there is a selection process that goes like "Well patient A is a teetotaler, so he will look after the liver transplant better than patient B, who isnt a teetotaler". Or "well patient A is a non smoker, so he will look after his lung transplant better than patient B who is a smoker".
