How is everyone enjoying the game? I built a Danger!/Kaiju deck which is a completely different playstyle than I am used to and it has been a lot of fun. My best deck is usually my shaddolls.

My only complaints are the weird banlist of course, but also that the only duels available is pretty much competitive. I hope event duels come soon. Having an old-school event where only cards from the first series of yugioh would be fun.

What decks are you running right now?

I actually think its pretty fair. At no point have I felt the tiniest pressure to pay money. You could very easily build a few competitive decks on the cheap with the gems they give you to start off.

So what separates this from Duel Links?

Never played it but iirc duel links is a smaller game. Smaller field and faster pace.

Duel Links is the "speed" version. It only has 3 monster spaces, no main phase 2, 4000 life points, and no Link monsters (yet). Duel Links also is more catered towards fans of the anime since you can play as different characters and they have their own skills.

Master Duel sounds like it's just straight Yugioh. No playable characters even from what I heard

Would love to get into this but I just don't have the energy to invest into all the new stuff.

Kinda tempted to try and build meta for the first time in my life, but I havent played in a few years and need to get re-familairized with everything.

Thunder dragons are pretty good. A basic version was my first deck in this game. If he is using Colossus and he brings it out. Best way to get rid of it is to remove it without destroying. Any card that says remove from field or banish or anything like that can get rid of it

Oh I didnt know that thread was going on for so long.

Also props for using black wings. I love those cards but I just cannot build a solid deck to save my life with them. I always feel like there are better black wing cards to be using than what I have

XYZ summoning is really simple though. Cards of same star level combine to make strong card. It's fusion basically.

Pendulums are fun!

It's just a once-per-turn mass summon with a (heavily nerfed now) recursion gimmick.

One of my all-time cancerous decks was a Gravekeeper deck because Necrovalkey single-handedly completely stalls a lot of archetypes.

Ideally I want to find a way to make this deck viable these days since the actually gravekeeper cards cant hang with a lot of newer monsters these days.

Also I don't mind if we migrate to here. I got no pride in topic ownership lol

They've been my main fav since 2008. I always had a competitive deck and them for my fun deck. I can post my list later if you want to see.

Yeah post it later Im curious. I dont really have a dedicated path to victory when I use mind so i am probably missing some of the best cards

I made a Thunder Dragon deck. Haven't gotten a chance to do many online matches yet, but it's been working out in the few I've played.

Downloading now to be basic and use dark magician again lol. Don't know how to do anything past synchro summons as that's when I stopped bothering with it. The tag force games on the PSP were amazing.

Also maybe its me but there seems to be no advantage to moving up ranks in competitive. Its seems pretty arbitrary unless they will give out end of season rewards but I dont see anything that indicates such.

Also those 2 card packs they give you after each duel are TRASH

You get gems for each promotion and...yeah. I hear Platinum is a shit show so I'm not really in any rush lol

I started last night and tried to recreate my Six Samurai deck from Duel Links but I misunderstood/didnt read how Secret Packs work and wasted all my gems.

Gems are not really important once you have a viable deck. Im just riding out my dangers until there is something I need to buy.

Hoping that the event duels are something to get excited about. Saving my gems until then Or until I get the urge to use my venoms again. Probably my fav archtype

My first deck is Galaxy monsters, I've won like 9 of the first 10 ranked matches I've played but that's because most of them had spent no time deck building (one dude really sat down a vanilla Sparkman and ended his turn I feel so bad lol). My one loss was to a Batteryman deck that had a Utopia the Lightning to overrun my boss monsters.

Working towards building my pendulum pet decks: Pendulum Magicians and Peformapals. Main issue is these guys are ultra dependent on having just the right extra deck so it will be a while before I'm ready to use them. Contrast with Galaxy-Eyes where having Number 62 stacked on Afterglow Dragon will win you the game if the attack goes through.

Gems are always important lol. It's Yu-Gi-Oh. You're gonna get the itch to play different decks every so often and a lot of research has shown greatly diminished returns on mission rewards for gems

I was looking up Rank 8 Blue Eyes decks recently and there's a cool little line you can do with the Galaxy-Eyes Cypher line, but you prolly already know it lol

And that's fine but it just goes back to what I said about diminishing returns/resources on rewards. Hoarding gems is cool, just try to get em where you can for now is all I'm saying.

i just found out it was a thing last night and watched a youtuber do 1 duel. his opponent took 5 minutes on the first turn and summoned like 10 different monsters. i don't like all this xyz/link/etc summons that slow and complicates the game so much.

i loved duel links early on but then they added in more on top of being pay to win and just quit after awhile. it's the only mobile game i actually put money into to get a bit of a meta deck but then it was just obsolete after they added in more stuff. have a feeling master duel is just gonna be even worse about it. the game just came out but give it a couple months for the meta to develop.

Well Master Duel is supposed to reflect IRL (Idk why the weird banlist and missing sets) as Konami eventually wants to use it as the go to for remote dueling events/tournaments.

The good thing is that they've also said that they're making past/alternate formats official and that they'll be included in the game. It's all about just waiting how and when they decide to implement them.

I guess I can give you some info on their key cards which you may want to stop to shut them down haha xD

The deck is reliant on spells and more importantly "Sky Striker Ace Raye" If you stop her you can stop most of the combos. You can use cards like Imperial Order and Anti-Spell Fragrance to make them pretty much useless against you. You can use Ash Blossoms, Droll and Lock Bird to stop their spell card named "Sky Striker Mobilize Engage" since its a very powerful card because it can search any sky striker card.

For Raye, you can use Called by the grave and Ghost Belle to stop her from resurrecting. Raye can revive herself if you somehow kill any sky striker link monster while she is in the graveyard.

Ah okay thanks! Hit the Raye, Save the Day lol. I was trying to outgrind one with my Unchained but I couldnt draw into my DFissures or Ice Dragons Prison or they'd grab their s/t removal and negates too fast lol

I surrendered a duel a few minutes ago because of that shit too. Literally 10+ monsters/link summons/special summons instead of him just ending the duel. I left him a blank field and passed turn to give him the clean W because I was clearly outmatched and he does that shit.

To be fair the scariest thing you can do in current yugioh is play nothing and pass. There are a ton on hand traps that can save your ass. So he was probably assuming he'd need to play around those. One well-timed disruption could win you the game.

The thing about these combos are, if you manage to stop them, then thats a massive blow to such decks. This is why handtraps are important in the deck. Its better to bring cards like Ash Blossom, Infinite Impermanence to stop their combos.

My elder brother managed to win against a Drytron player with his red eyes deck. Ash Blossom stopped the opponents combo on the very first turn and they couldnt do anything after that.

I need to learn to use Kaijus better. Never realized how strong the sea turtle is. If you get some counters on the field you have incredible negate power

I scrapped all the card I didn't need or care about so now I have Cyber dragons for fun and eldlitch invoked for meta.

Lol I won the mini Maxx C challenge against an Onomat player. I went first, he Maxx C'd me, I was able to get out Gameciel with Kyoutou Waterfront with 5 Tokens, plus Apolloussa with 4 Counters and an Ash in hand, to his 20+ cards in hand. I was able to stifle his next turn leaving him with only 1 monster in attack and discarding like..
10 cards maybe lol. I could've OTK'd but I messed up and left him with 400 LP and I exchanged my Apolloussa for Equimax and Borreload Savage with 4 Counters as well as refresh my Kyoutou Waterfront with 5 more counters. He couldn't get over my negates the next turn so he just surrendered.

Definitely saved the replay lol

I finally finished my Monarch deck, haven't played with it yet though.

got some more matches in with Thundras today, been doing pretty well. but I've never drawn into the Tzolken -> Crystal Wing combo that was in the deck I stole.

If I wanted to be more competitive I'd cut the dark rebellion and an armor master for Evilswarm exciton knight and Silent honor Ark. Black Rose and Black feather are also gonna be swapped for better level 7 and 8 synchros which 2008 me think is wild.

Lightning storm is probably going to get swapped for a TTT.
