It's pretty slow but personally I like slower books, things like LotR, the Stand, Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. Just feel more real given that they have a slower, more real world pace imo

Yep, got there not too long ago, that scene was pretty messed up, though I guess it's King so there's bound to be some messed up shit in it

If you have not seen the original mini-series I highly recommend that as well (After you finish reading the book). He did such a good job translating those characters on-screen, even when I re-read the books now I picture them like the chars from the mini-series.

The remake was trash, and not in the can man good way. Was so dissapointed and I really like the actor who played Flag in it.

Love that book, and it's my flat out FAVORITE mini-series of all time. Love the soundtrack to it (though king had a great ability to choose soundtracks for shows over all).

Favorite King film/adaptation over all, favorite mini-series over all, and one of my favorite King books as well (loved a few others, but it's in the top 5 for sure).

It's one of his best and he's grumbled about the idea some of his fans would be pleased if he dropped dead after fourth novel.

My wife never read the book, but she watched the mini-series with me a few times and even after 20 years we would still go M O O N that spells (whatever we were talking about lol).

I sure loved her:)

Are you confusing The Stand with the Dark Tower books?

Because I wouldn't say I've ever heard anyone say they wish he'd actually died in his hit-and-run accident (between the fourth and fifth books), but I've certainly heard people complain about the fifth book being absolute shit, the sixth book being very uneven, and people who were annoyed by the ending of the seventh book.

I definitely think Wolves of the Calla is the worst book in the series (and possible one of the worst books he's ever written), but I kind of liked Song of Susannah, and the last book is pretty clever in its own way.

Honestly only liked the first book and Wizard and Glass (had randal flag in it!!) of that series, and the movie blew.

First book rocked tho.

Yeah, those are the best two IMO, and the movie definitely sucked.

The second book has an interesting premise, though. And there are definitely interesting elements in the last two. So it's hard for me to just dismiss the entire series out of hand. Especially when he basically starts tying it to literally every other book he's ever written.

They were supposedly talking about doing a Dark Tower series in general, but the movie's poor reception kind of killed those talks from what I've heard.

If it had all worked out, I could see them doing an Eyes of the Dragon adaptation to go along with it.

I disagree, but it's incredibly subjective so to each their own.

For whatever reason, I just enjoy Roland alone or with his past companions more than I do with the modern day people. For Drawing of the Three I mostly just like the idea of the magic doors and how they work, and Roland's confusion when dealing with modern day stuff like aspirin and soda.

Part of why I'll even throw Little Sisters of Eluria into the pile for good Dark Tower stories. I'd honestly rather read that than read about Doombots and Golden Snitches and fighting people by throwing plates. Wolves of the Calla is just so stupid.
