Last Call has never quite managed to grab me, and its opponent is pretty good. The second match is even closer, as I do like Sleeping in the Cold Below. I could easily vote against Gate of Steiner's vocal version too, but no chance for this opponent, which I dislike.

B3 has a ridiculous amount of really good songs, but thankfully most of them don't meet in R1.

Hollows is full of all the beepy boopy stuff I like! I particularly enjoy the quick fade out and slam back in at 1 min. It probably keeps going a bit long, but it's just a really pleasant tune. I like how it loops too.
LAST CALL is not for me. The vocals and lyrics seem a bit clunky, and I don't feel like the tune ever kicks into gear.
Sleeping kicks ass! It knows exactly what it's doing and nails it from the getgo, doesn't overcomplicate things or overstay its welcome and, most importantly, is incredibly catchy. Love the energy from the leading vocalist, great harmonies too and I like the weird wubbing strings around 1:40 (technical term, that).
Jupiter is decent, though I never get fully into the rhythm of it. I think there's too much happening for me and I don't get a feel for the beat because everything's changing so often. The bit that first starts at :13 and comes back later is probs my fav part.
Under Pressure certainly lives up to its name, I feel like I'm being squeezed very tightly from the opening notes! If it kept up the pressure past the first 20 seconds I'd like it more but it sadly fades away as it goes on. Steiner is a mixed bag, I need to listen to it a few more times to decide if I like it I think. But it's solid enough to beat the bizarreness of its opponent.

Not the least bit surprised JFKadence vs Back to Rise is leading the poll.

Hollows (Echocave) is an example of a good chiptune. Great melody, good production, the modern elements mesh well with the chiptune elements. Sounds like something Jake Kaufman would compose. An all-around great song.

I like LAST CALL compositionally. Good synths, percussion, and such. However, the vocalist, Stephanie Topalian, is not great. She doesn't have a lot of vocal support, so she struggles to hit certain notes, or to carry them without her voice wobbling (that's how I'd describe it anyways). This is more apparent in some of her other NEO:TWEWY songs that require even stronger notes to be sustained. So unfortunately, this is a rather easy match for me.

Sleeping in the Cold Below is a cool song. Nice percussion and harmonization in the vocals. The celtic elements are welcome as well. Good song overall.

I like the section starting at 0:39 in Jupiter Guns Novel with the acoustic guitar. This song is doing a bit much at certain parts, but there are also some really good parts. The e-guitar part at 2:35 is awesome. Reminds me a bit of Plini tbh. I think the highs of this song are good enough to barely get my vote for this match.

Under Pressure is interesting. ~~It also sounds nothing like the Queen song.~~ There's some interesting instrumentation here, but I honestly can't see myself actively seeking this out again. Not a bad song, but it's not something that really interests me either.

GATE OF STEINER has a nice vocalist. Nice instrumental as well. Not a huge standout track, but it works well enough that it easily beats Under Pressure.

Weaker day today. Hollows is the only real standout for the day.

First match is two songs that I feel like I should like more than I do based on their style, but they're both enjoyable at least. Think I enjoy Last Call more even if, not unlike Calling, it's held back by the vocals.
Sleeping in the Cold Below does not have that problem, though the "marching anthem" feel isn't one I love. Jupiter Guns Novel is very solid prog rock though and was a cool discovery. praise Kudo
I'm not even sure the vocal version of Gate of Steiner is better than the instrumental, but I still marked out hard when it played at the end of SG0 (the anime at least) - didn't expect it at all. Under Pressure is solid too though I don't have much to say about it.

it's based on MMX so it should sound more like MMX music imooo. Not bad at least. Last Call isn't necessarily my style but it goes in a lot of interesting places. I do think it'd be better without the loops tho.

Sleeping in the Cold Below is another shitty Warframe song that I assume is in because of Warframe addicts having Stockholm Syndrome... At least it's up against something awesome. Jupiter Guns is really good! Love all the energy.

Under Pressure is a lot of fun too. Nice and hardcore. I dunno if this version of Gate of Steiner is better than the non-vocal version, but both are okay. Both

In fact match 2 was surprisingly tough. Jupiter Guns Novel was a standpoint in the nomination phase, so I was all prepared to vote for it without second thought. Still voted for it in the end, but I'm finding that I'm still humming along to the shanty melody.
