After 20 years I was expecting him to look overweight with a beer gut and not flattering in a skin tight spider suit but (whether it was cgi or not) he looked pretty damn perfect as an aged experienced Peter Spiderman. I was very pleasantly surprised. Same with Doc Ock. I hate that I was spoiled with the incessant rumors and news articles either speculating or confirming who was in the movie, but I was expecting Molina to look too old however he looked perfect as well. Willem Dafoe most definitely looked older and it added to how sinister he looked. He was more terrifying without the mask than he ever was with it. And that subtle purple-green suit combination that was clearly a reference to his comic/cartoon form lol. Overall the movie's flimsy, but there's only one reason why I risked Omicron exposure to pack my butt into a theater seat for the first time since the pandemic began, and that was me wanting to see (the very strong likelihood of) a McGuire + Garfield + Holland teamup before it got spoiled for me. Spidey's goal here isn't so much messing with fate as much as it is figuring out a way to cure them so they don't have to die upon return. Even That 70s Show Venom is oscar worthy by comparison This is the second time the villain was more intimidating out of costume than in it. First it was the stellar Michael Keaton giving an absolutely terrifying performance in Homecoming when he was driving Peter and Liz Allen on the way to the prom, then it was Willem the foe here.
