The first album I purchased with my own money was Off The Deep End from Weird Al.

Either Weezer's Green Album or the FFX soundtrack. There were only 1 or 2 albums I bought after that as well

When I was 10 or 11 I was visiting my Oma and Opa in Virginia. One day they took me to the mall and gave me a bit of money to buy something. I bought Nofx - White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean on cassette tape.

It was the second album I owned though. The first one was Rancid - And out Come the Wolves... But I got that for xmas.

R.E.M. - Eponymous, i think. i owned several albums before that on cassette, but i think they were all purchased for me. that was my first CD, which i bought with my discman.

though, it could be argued that those were bought with gift money and also don't "count", as i was roughly 10 years old at the time.

Not with my own money. But I remember the first CD I got piggybacking off my dads Columbia House 12 cds for a dollar offer. Nirvanas Nevermind.

I grew up in the early 80's so I was contractually obligated to own the Thriller Album, but I don't think I bought it with my own money, I just remember the album was just in the house for us to listen to.

The first cassette I remember purchasing with my own money was probably Raising Hell by RUN D.M.C.

That I myself purchased? Either Cypress Hill Black Sunday or Ill Communication from Beastie Boys.

For records it was a three way tie between Dirk Wears White Sox by Adam and the Ants, How to be a Zillionaire by ABC and Spring Session M by Missing Persons. CD wise it was the best of Bowie. Cassettes was Call of the West by Wall of Voodoo
