Free and on my way into groceries, but I want to say I was going to go for my usual thing of voting for someone on the train because day 1 lol, but then... THAT happened. Was fully prepared to vote BCT, and now that I'm off, I see a replacement happened. This does not 100% redeem plum, so let's go back to my initial plan.

There is no benefit to letting a day stagnate for 48 additional hours when the lynch is set. That's what gets people bored and lose interest in playing. Keeping player morale up is more important than squeezing out a few more posts of content which is largely uninteresting because the lynch is set.

And you're seconding the thing Death said. Why on earth would an early lynch trigger anything. Chris doesn't like days to needlessly stagnate and I don't think he would punish us for doing that. It's also completely at odds with Rule 4 which seems to encourage solving scum well before the end of day.

OR maybe being odds with Rule 4 doesn't matter and there's an Ulti x Death scum team and the scum knows something about early lynches that we don't???

I'm not metaing Chris as much as I'm metaing the ruleset being internally consistent.

Imagine if in addition to an anti-claim mechanic there was a pro claim mechanic that was unwritten that said if you claimed your role and survived two more days you'd power up (ROLE MADNESS)

now for commentary on the theme.

Baseball is pretty boring tbh but I am from Atlanta and was born on the exact day the Braves won the world series in 1995 so that's pretty cool. Extremely fair weather fan who only watches like, the NLDS and World Series games though.

The musical part could be kinda cool so i'm hoping there's some kind of Star Wars + Pokemon esque twist with that or that it's somehow going to help us solve the game ! I did originally think it was like, broadway musicals, but empirical evidence is suggesting the music is seemingly unrelated to broadway musicals or baseball and is more about what's thematically appropriate.

agreed with this (spoken as someone who effectively did something similar in giving up in Star Wars + Pokemon).

With the caveat that in no world does plum ever come in and affirm that he is a roleblocker, especially if he actually is one.

Disagreed on red, though. Red is more often than not an extremely valuable town member to have (once you get past his outer shell of grumpiness) and I am constantly baffled that people go after him day 1 after day 1.

like lopen, did you not make the same sort of decision when you chose to kill crescent in kingmaker mafia? Sure there was a decent shot at her being scum, but ultimately she was choosing not to engage in the game / effectively quitting. Is that not roughly the same logic of red voting BCT here?

The real problem here is two fold

1. BCT really sucked the oxygen out of the room
2. BCT really looked legitimately bad

This is making it hard to really do anything with people's reactions. Not a huge fan of lopen's posts for instance but I don't know what that means.

I will say in spite of me being scum there the logic is fine but not with only 3 minutes of time to allow the player to reconsider to engage the game

He didn't call him out on that specifically, but he sensed Lopen was lying.

They didn't out squat; that claim was one of someone who wanted to pose as important. Doomsayer is not a town-aligning role, and plum is nowheres even close to vindicated in my eyes.

There is zero reason to force claims in a game that it actively benefits scum to know town roles. The person in question was someone you all knew struggled with whether to even join the game due to their propensity to deal with pressure, and it was preyed upon. Scum has an excuse, but town who made this play deserve to be called out for the poor play. You need to play smarter and not fall on old habits of just claim hunting and trying to figure out the game... that's the point... to analyze the play and figure it out with relying on information and claims.

It's also why a random lynch day 1 is our best play.

and if so the "outed a power role" is a little disingenuous of framing. no matter who scum kills they are killing a power role.

of course not all powers are created equally, but still.

that said, agreed with the general spirit and intention of what corrik's saying. And i'm more down than most would be for a legitimately random lynch d1. so long as it isn't me :)
