I just checked a name search site and it's not totally unheard of. Ranked around 16,000th most popular for 2021 with no data before that. So you'd be ahead of the curve on this. Names like Serenity aren't unheard of either. It's a nice name, I think. And it demonstrates your wishes for your child.

That's a terrible name for a child. Unless they turnnout to be a sociopath. Then it's hilarious.

Yes. Give them a real name.
All names are made up. And if a name meaning "blessed of the lord" is acceptable, I mean. For that matter, Hope is a name. Faith. It's not like they want to literally name the kid "Thrice-Scorned Lord of the Undulating" or whatever.

This.

People should really stop picking stupid names and go with stuff that's easy to say and not a real word.

Honestly, it's not that bad. Like someone else said, with names like Patience, Hope, Faith, Serenity, surely it's not out of the park entirely.

Kids are going to make fun of someone's name if they decide they are a target no matter what it is.

Yeah but the main thing is how they will be treated growing up with a conventional name vs an unconventional name. Yes its important.

Problem with names and teasing is that there's no telling what name is gonna get you bullied in the future.

A decade ago, being named "Isis" or "Alexa" probably wasn't going to get you too much flack.

Heck, in college I knew a girl named Stormy. Wonder what life was like for her when that Stormy Simmons shit started getting pushed by the 24 hour news cycle. >_>

Sometimes it be like that

But na, I'm just really sensitive and against the idea that people should not go by their chosen names because it might be foreign sounding or difficult to pronounce at first.

And those feelings transfer over to if the issue is just that it's "weird". Whatever that means.

For that matter, people in this topic seem to be focusing on boring westernized names. A name like Feng or Guang is perfectly normal in China but you can bet people in the west will shit all over it. It's stupid to limit yourself to names that only exist in antiquity.

For that matter, my name literally didn't exist prior to it being made up by Johnathan Swift in 1708 and it only came to mean Butterfly after a genus of butterfly was named after it in the early 1800s. It's been in the top 100 girls names off and on this century. It's Vanessa, by the way.

I can think of several famous war criminals named Joseph or a derivative. This is a fucking stupid metric and not only should you feel ashamed, you should be shamed by all who are unfortunate as to encounter you on the streets.

I have absolute sympathy for the "deadname" people, because I did that, but backwards.
All through school, I went by my middle name, but as soon as I hit the "real world" I went by my actual legal name. I've been [firstname] for longer than I was [middle name], and only close family calls me by the latter now.

That's the thing, you don't have to keep your name. It's a gift you can reject or decline later. I yeeted my birth name. Yoted that as far as I could.
