Seeing that people are going to the artists Twitter directly to yell at them about the designs and complain, almost exclusively western Twitter user in English.

Absolutely horrendous behavior.

I may have spent the last 8 hours doing nothing but complaining about how this game looks terrible and fuming internally about it, but have some common decency to keep it to local circles.

For the record, Intelligent Systems had to tell off the Japanese FE fanbase for this behavior not that long ago. So yelling at artists on Twitter is not something limited to just the Western side of the Fire Emblem fanbase.

I'd be more interested if I hadn't already played enough Fire Emblem Heroes for a lifetime. I'll need a lot of convincing this isn't just Heroes reimagined as a console game.

What do you mean by that? Engage is going to have a full linear story and regular Fire Emblem-sized maps, which are the two things I assume most people play FE games for?

Nothing about the gameplay looks bad.

Gameplay is also last on my list for what I care about with FE (of the things that matter of course).

Story, characters, and aesthetic both visual and audio all take priority.

based on the last 24 hours I think I am vastly mistaken about what I thought people played FE games for. apparently people play them just to complain and make fun of the series.

FE was already on the chopping block before, if the games start selling bad again they won't make them. Pretty standard train of logic.

The rest of that isn't worth engaging.

1. comparing someone to ulti as a way to try and shut them down is a really sad and lame tactic. you realize you need to learn how to back up your arguments with logic aside from 'ulti=bad' if you're going to socialize anywhere outside of board 8, right?
2. if you really don't engage with so-called ulti tier comments, and by your logic I am making those comments, you could just stop responding to me. nobody is forcing you to continue this conversation. you don't have to announce that you're no longer participating in it, while continuing to do so.
3. you're giving ulti way too much credit here anyway. he's a fitting adversary for a walnut like you, but he's not on the level of being compared to someone like me.

I think it's fair to be concerned that the game might be trying to rely on the popularity of previous games' protagonists to prop itself up instead of succeeding on its own merits.

While it might be reading too much into the game's first trailer, it's still a valid concern when that's what they decided to lead with and highlight.
