I've been giving a lot of credit to Gen Z, but that's incredibly disappointing if true. At the very least, the 18 to 29 demo being like +24 points Dem or whatever it was is fantastic.

So upon googling, it looks like the youth turnout did indeed decide key races for the Dems and was considerably huge turnout for the demographic, only behind 2018 in recent history. But this turnout that's comparatively huge for them?

I've probably told this story before, but in the 2020 Democratic primaries, I worked on voting day. I told literally 7 people at work about voting for Bernie and how excited I was that it looked like he might win and yada yada. Every single one of them expressed some level of support, most flat out enthusiastically saying they hope he wins. When asked if they voted or planned to vote, I got 7 straight "no"s.

I think a lot of the lack of youth turnout might be partly related to how old some of the people running at. Like if youre just now able to legally vote in Iowa your Senator vote is between two people 65+ with one being almost 90 years old. Neither one can relate to a Gen Z in any fashion
