Wouldn't that still only be 50/51 Senate seats (depending on the GA runoff results)? At best, they could ignore one of them (which doesn't help much because they agree on blocking all the good stuff).

There are a handful of issues where they disagree and we've been forced to eat bad policy because of it (Sinema keeping a tax loophole open for "reasons") where theoretically with 51 you could alternate between needing just one of them to try and get as much good stuff as you could but yeah not only do they both tend to agree on blocking the really important things but most of this is only relevant if Dems hold the House because even things like reconciliation have to pass the House.

Just to ask something, did Trump actually attempt to overturn the 2020 election results? Either way, I find it priceless that conservatives would retort back at claims that the Capitol insurrection seemed like something out of a Banana Republic by saying the "rigged" election indicates that the US is already one. Gets even better considering they're probably right, almost entirely down to their own actions.

I still have a hard time filing these pieces of crap off as being totally unreasonable even though the more time I spend away from it the more I realize how BS their narratives are now. Same with the "YouTube randos", who seem to really have it in for women of color in particular for some reason.

My thoughts on the "slim GOP majority in the House" Speaker fight has been roughly this for around two months or so:

McCarthy is toast, House Freedom Caucus can and will sink him. They'll try to back Jim Jordan but that'll be too much for a number of Republicans in vulnerable districts given the shitshow he'd create. Stefanik ends up as the "compromise" candidate between the GOP factions and ends up Speaker.

Saw an article reporting the HFC planned to put up Biggs as their nominee in an attempt to make Jordan the compromise candidate but lmao. Just gamesmanship on their part, don't think it alters my thoughts that Jordan can't get 218.

Highly doubt the Dems end up involved in this though obviously they could if there are a handful of GOP willing to work with them. No idea who ends up Speaker in that case but I also don't see this scenario actually happening.
