I have a bad feeling we'll lose 1-0 to Iran. We play down to opponents (and we're not great to begin with) too often in important matches, it feels like. I'm thinking a draw with Wales, get smashed by England, and lose to Iran. At the same time, a loss to Wales today is pretty much it for us, and that could very well happen.

I mean if we lose to Wales we don't deserve to advance anyways so there you go

This was so close to being true (it was 6-1), but they got a penalty in what was like the 27th added minute lol.

England looked great up front but looks vulnerable defensively.

By the rulebook it's pretty clearly the correct call though

The thing is the rulebook doesn't have any consistency whatsoever. I mean they'd be giving penalties away all the time if a tiny tug like that is given.

Senegal v Netherlands has been alright, just kinda lacking in quality. Senegal are giving the Netherlands too much time to organise and their forwards have too much to do with such a defensive midfield, while the Netherlands just aren't good enough going forwards. They're missing Depay badly, he was really the difference maker the last few times I saw them. De Jong or even Weghorst would probably give them more up front than Janssen.

It wasn't the hug but the shirt pulling.

Memphis is in the squad, I'm guessing he comes in eventually, but he hasn't gotten that much playing time recently in club football I think.

The assist had to come from De Jong, they have depended way too much on everything going through him.

Yeah, wasn't sure he would even be fit enough to come off the bench but I'd expect them to top the group if he can start v Ecuador.

Getting nervous for Wales v US already. Very evenly matched game on paper, I think our midfield is shaky but the defense is strong and Bale is still one of the best big-game players in the world. I'd probably take a draw given our more favourable fixture order.

As an England fan i'm hoping for a draw tonight. That being said i doubt it really matters as i can't see Iran picking up a point in this group. It'll probably go down to the last game whatever happens.
