Someone else can probably sum them up better, but outside of animation/visuals (which they usually do good on), their writing and storytelling are generally nowhere near as good and some are put off by it (partiucarly their humor). They have made a few enjoyable/decent movies IMO (though nothing spectacular), but nothing that I would strongly reccommend and half of their library is not worth watching. Their best film is probably Despicible Me which was their first film back in 2010. They've been riding on its success since. It's a sequel for a side character from a franchise that died off 10 years ago.
