Zidane

Zidane is my favorite FF protagonist

I love the modern interpretation of WoL but still gotta go with Zidane since he's an actual character

Definitely Zidane.

It's hard to overestimate what a change his good-natured attitude was at the time after Cloud and Squall's angst.

I can't stand Zidane, he's lame & obnoxious. Viv & Freya carried the cast of 9.

Warrior.

I don't like how they retconned all the FF1 classes into "Warrior of Light" and all the FF3 characters into "Onion Knight."

? "Onion Kid" was the original FF3, Luneth and company are the new ones, and FF1 didn't retcon all of the FF1 classes into Warrior of Light. Warrior of Light is the only one that really gets brought out, but all of the others are "X of Light" characters (ie. Monk = Monk of Light, etc.).

I gave Warrior a very early vote. Zidane probably earned his way to an advance tho. But so far I voted for Warrior. Wait I voted for Warrior twice. This Warrior is different than fighter/warrior from FF1 neat. This is almost why I feel like some FFXIV characters could have worked.

But I am not going to make a bigger deal about that. I believe your Player Character is also a Warrior of light no matter what class you pick. Also I only played FFXIV to 3/4ths through Heansward years ago. Shame on me.

Yeah, I counted them as separate roster slots because the Warrior of Light in this round was created specifically to be a representative for FF1 in crossover games such as Dissidia and Theatrhythm, and has a very different design and ability set to the class in the actual game. While they're considered to be the "same character", they're actually pretty different from each other, so I wanted to make sure people who are fans of one version but not the other could have their votes properly cast.

Onion Knight is separate from the cast of the DS remake of 3 for similar reasons.

I would have loved to include characters from 14, since I have ten years worth of fond memories in that game and love the cast, but I decided early on that I wanted to focus this bracket on playable party members and stick to that. (Yes, I made an exception for the Chocobo, but... it's the Chocobo.) Every established character in 14 isn't really playable outside of a few instanced fights, and I didn't feel like that was enough... also, it would have been really, really hard to make the proper judgment calls to decide who makes the cut.

Another issue is that while I played a lot of 14 and know Eorzea better than the city I actually live in, I never touched 11, so I have no idea what characters would be popular enough choices to deserve roster spots outside of frequent crossover faces like Shantotto and Prishe, and even in their case I have no first-hand experience to know if they're actually popular with 11's player base or if they're just who S-E views as the most marketable.

Although now you got me thinking that if I suffer a head injury and decide to run a third tournament, I might do a smaller-scale one just for FF14 characters.

Yea I know one of the early drawbacks of FF XIV was going down the same roads repeatedly but I was like wut this is so comforting knowing where I am going with low risk and meeting my friends. I.......
