Huh.

Honestly it's for the best. The atmosphere there was pretty toxic.

95% of topics are users flaming other users, mostly because that board is a hotbed for trolls and... people with immensely shitty takes. More than a few Nazi sympathizers there (And not all of them banned).

CE should go next, it's like 261 except somehow worse. Just get rid of both boards and watch the average mental health go up significantly.

Howdy all. Since the announcement is a little bit vague (as corporate announcements tend to be), I just wanted to hop in and chime in a bit more casually about why the board was closed.
The primary reason for the closure was an attempt to help align all of Fandom's newly acquired brands with the existing community guidelines that they already have for Fandom.com. Political boards on other brands like GameSpot were also shut down as well.
Generally, Fandom attempts to prevent communities being built specifically about politics. You can see an exerpt from here: https://www.fandom.com/community-creation-policy

I originally had some hesitation about this idea when it was first brought up, but to be honest, board 261 was by far the biggest drain on our moderator resources across the whole site, and one of the boards that garnered the most complaints from users. In the end, I do agree that it makes sense not to have a board that specifically caters to one of the most notoriously divisive conversational topics known to man. By removing the board, we are actually helping the mod team as well.
Does this mean that boards like CE are also on the chopping block? Not at all. There are occasional political topics here, but this board is mostly just a hub to discuss anything and everything. We did raise the user level for this board as a temporary measure to prevent flooding from alts during this transitional period and after a few weeks or so, we'll poll the board and see how you all feel about lowering the level back down a bit or if you prefer the newer version.

I'm over Level 30 (woah, I hit ? Block a month ago - shows how much I care!) and it says my level is "not high enough." Not that I want to see anything there - I never went to that shithole for a reason.

Part of me is still disappointed I somehow missed the signups for LUE. I certainly have an old enough account to have done it. Granted, I'm not sure if I wouldn't have gotten kicked. I was... very argumentative as a teen.

LL isnt even the same anymore llamaguy basically has given the site to a new admin and its a completely different site. Its on its like, third iteration or something. I dont go anymore, lots of toxic people

the steriLUEation def worked I remember going there like 5-8 years ago and it was tame as heck. I lost my account soon after but it wasnt banned. I dunno what happened I dont remember

The best thing I ever saw come out of CE was a topic where a user was posting pics of a girl who was walking her dog outside their house and describing interactions with her and it got creepier and creepier and the last one showed her laying face down on the ground in the driveway. Then, a normal pic of her and the dog smiling inside the house - it was her posting all along. It was archived somewhere for a long time but that site is gone (not the site about lumber).

The board was dead anyways. When I last viewed the politics board, 15 out of 20 topics were made by one user with the same 7-8 users replying to it. At that point just make your own discord.
