I actually think the red defense of marth is scummier than the marth defense given he could be making up a reason to fake why his knowledge that marth is town is true.

Red is cut from the same cloth as I am as scum. Careful. He wouldn't be so reckless as scum but as town it wouldn't occur to him he might be misremembering.

I'm surprised that Marth still has no reaction to me answering his question that was aimed directly at me, and I find it curious that we come to a similar conclusion from very different POV's, Chris.

I have a town lean on sbell now, and I suspect it's a similar "totally different paths to get there" from you. Of the players remaining in your list, the only one I have a town read on is death. I'm pretty neutral on the others that aren't me but are in your list.

Sure.

The Marth train of thought has been the one that's given me the most to think about, so I've been working from there. Gives me good vibes for the players who were probing him more (Peaf/SBell/Death a bit).

On a similar note, I don't find Lea's argument for her vote that odd personally, but if she is scum I could see how she uses that to jump on Marth early if he were town and possibly getting some momentum. I'd lean neutral on her for that.

I'm not sure if all the dissection of Marth's posting habits and early reads is a tell either way honestly, but I like the discourse.

I don't remember any specific comments you gave about him, just that he wasn't in your "neutral" list and that your vote isn't on him. At this point, probably Peaf or Lea. Peaf's argument with Red was centered around Marth looking similar to his last game, and Lea was very passionate in her vote against him. Assuming he flipped town after we hit a majority though better options could feasibly open up with more data.

Recency bias. Marth didn't really stand out to me D1 much(Hence, the cop scan). But how Marth played in the later days is very fresh.

I don't dispute that you're both intelligent and careful players. But you're both obviously still humans and if we assume that scum players will always play at optimal performance at all times then we're going to blind ourselves to their slip-ups.

Town players dont play at optimal performance either, peaf.

I pretty much fake it through day 1 for at least 85% of day 1. Most of the shit I post is just to generate shit that I might look on or look back on and go "oh".

I still kind of hate day 1, and I don't know that more experience will ever change that for me. I do better when there are tangible actions that can be examined, alongside behavior and what people have previously said.

At this point it feels like it is a mix of gut reactions predominantly based of prior experience with people and trying to find minute slip ups that may or may not actually be a slip up.

I love day ones for the exact reasons you give. It's all vibes, man. No night actions to analyze, no confirmed alignments of a single player to base off of... just go with the flow, push buttons to see what happens, the world is your oyster. I definitely agree with what red said about that.

I think one reason why this day one might feel a bit more lethargic than the previous game's d1 is that we didn't have a page one claim with the urgency of "find some unlucky soul to rally behind before day gets close to ending."

My reads have changed quite a bit and I'll update them when I get home.

But cases for scum should be stronger than cases for town by numbers. We have many more town to find and it is useful to remember that most people are town.

Red hasn't obviously town told but him misremembering something is for sure not scum alignment indicative and I have known red for longer than board 8 has been a thing.

My case on red is that he was bsing for a reason to call Marth town. Your counter argument is that red as scum wouldn't do that.

Just last game scum lopen used a bad and false reason to say that death was acting different than how he does as town. It's just the inverse here, where red used a bad and false reason to say that marth is acting differently than he did as scum.
Sure, lopen and red are both different players. But I'm calling it like i see it.

i want the debate about it to stop because, imo, it's going in circles.

i think i was both "pocket-y" and "pushy". i didn't play to just one of those prototypes the whole game. so peaf you're right that I had lots of townreads d1 but red is also right that I did lots of pushing and reaching in the latter stage of the game.

both attitudes were contingent based on the game state. i thought we were dominating d1 and just threw all my partners in the towncore. then we get absolutely buttfucked by a flurry of unfortunate night actions and i had to change my motif and look for holes that I could push in a very thin pile because several people ended up clearing themselves.

i don't describe either of those as a "definite" way that i play as mafia. my playstyle (as both alignments) tends to depend on 1. how i'm feeling at the time 2. how the game is going in my direction.

and i want to point something out as well. i don't agree with this push on red, but that does NOT mean that I am advocating for him to be town. maybe it's the same from him to me, but yeah. i just think the push is based on shaky grounds and it won't provide any fruitful input for the game.

tl;dr if red is mafia, he isn't mafia for saying that i "am not as pushy as last game". that is a fair and valid statement, as is peaf's statement that i had a bunch of townreads in my core.

in terms of sorting my alignment, just read my past town games. chris and mzero have done their due diligence to try and solve me, which i'm marking as town for now. not taking the mzero read to the bank but i'm very confident that chris is town and will almost be mad if he's mafia because he described my town game to a solid T.

okay anyway i'll update my reads in next post, just had to get that off my chest.

If you have a chance I need you to explain a few things.

When we rolled scum together, you briefly mentioned a pitiful town performance from me where I got dayvigged as doc. Obviously if you're mafia, you know about my vulnerability and you know that you could probably bulldoze through me quite easily.

I want to believe this isn't the case, but your push on me does seem a bit one-dimensional. I don't like how you tied in Chris to your read, and seemingly have zero curiosity about exploring Chris' 180. You don't even seem to have any other options but me.

I want to think that you are town that thinks they've caught me, but at this point it's starting to become a wee bit unbelievable and a bit performative. So yeah, I don't think you should necessarily hard claim like Corrik asked you to, but I do think that you should give us a broader perspective about your viewpoint of the game.

I've played maybe 3 or 4 games with Chang, but I remember him as an abrasive player with no concern whatsoever about the little usually irrelevant things that get metaed. His response to Chris fits exactly what I'd expect from him, and it doesn't give me any sort of read at all. He draws three quick responses.

Chris teases him. Red threatens to kill him. Plum then essentially says nothing.

Plum's response feels forced. He chimes in after Chris and Red on what I see as a non-issue, but doesn't appear to really have anything to say.
