The depths is such a drag man. Why did they even make it. The game didn't need more empty space.

I like the concept of the Depths. The actual exploration is another story.

I mean yeah first time it was actually kinda scary. I thought other ones would be a little different though.

I've seen a fair few people who absolutely love the depths. I enjoy them somewhat, but if they made the depths half the size with the same amount of content it would be a way better place to explore.

I don't hate the Depths, but it's not too long before I'm just ready to be back on the surface.

My adventures through the depths started with throwing Brightbloom Seeds all over the place while following statues and degenerated into YOLO running through the darkness. There's probably a right way to do this but I never worked it out.

Zonite is so valuable that it's worth doing as you go for sure.

Yeah, having low batteries for all your surface exploration would kinda suck.

The "correct" way to do it is build a flying machine and stick a brightbloom seed to it so you can see at all times.

24 Season 2 Episode 13 complete!

This was a pretty intense episode. I wonder who the rogue commando was. I'm guessing they'll become the main threat for the second half of the season.

Also good job, Roger, on name dropping Sherry. Let's get rid of this woman once and for all.

Nate Bargatze has a new comedy special on Prime Video. We got to watch him live a couple of years ago, and it was neat to hear some of that material on this special and do the Leonardo DiCaprio meme when it appeared.

My wife and I both really like him, but I feel like he appeals to people who grew up in the south, so it might not be your thing if you're not in that demographic.

Zelda: Southeast/Lurelin Region explored. 118 Shrines, 725 Koroks. All the quests around Lurelin were fun. Took me an embarrassingly long time to find the last enemy in the well though, lol. After the reconstruction when you're given the quest to add an attraction I picked the water race because I actually did remember the racer near Tarrey Town but what happens if you pick one of the other options? Do they shoot you down until you pick the water race?

Eventide Island got nerfed since it's basically a normal area now. And lowkey the Yiga are kind crazy if they can impersonate Zelda that convincingly lol.

Only the Zora, Gerudo, and Goron regions remain. Plan to hit them in that order. I'll explore them to the extent I can without advancing the story, I know just looking at Gerudo Desert from the Highlands that exploration might have to largely be put on hold until plot. Not sure about the other two. Then Depths. Then back to the story in what will likely end up as me zooming from objective to objective as I'll have done everything else by then lol. But that's the path I have chosen.

Nearing the end of FF16, it seems. Just have a big sidequest dump to tackle before what appears to be the final dungeon.

Yeah, I've heard that's what happens at the end, but the sidequests are quite good.

I need to do some more Hunts. I just keep hoping I'll run across them randomly as I'm doing other things, but that's only happened a couple of times.

The majority of the hunts are out of the way, yeah. See some circular area off the beaten path on the map? Probably a hunt there at some point!

Yeah, I've fought a couple in those spots. If I have to beat a Hunt for a sidequest, I just look up the location and go straight there. I try to avoid looking up stuff on a first playthrough as much as possible, but I should probably just bite the bullet so I can blow through these because they're piling up.

Mopped up all the sidequests and hunts tonight. Guess Ill finish this up next time I sit down to play.

I'm probably 75-80% of the way through the second Mistborn book. It's definitely been different from the first. I did enjoy Zane's character and the plot twist about who the spy was, but I feel like most of the major characters just...aren't as good as they were in the first book (Sazed in particular I've come to dislike). I'll be curious to see how things go in this last stretch.

Book 2 does suffer from middle-book syndrome to some extent. I think Vin is still great though.

the end of book 2 i remember being pretty wild. book 3 really pays off what book 2 sets up

That was fine. I wish it had more people we actually knew in it, but SLJ and Emilia Clarke put on good performances.

FF16 beated. That was quite a ride. I think the game has some pacing issues in the back third, and I feel like some story elements really could have been fleshed out a bit more than they were.

I dont think its something I really see myself replaying ever, but Im definitely leaving it much more positively than 13 or 15.

Yeah, I'm at the stage of life where replaying long games probably won't be an option for me for a while.

Man, I've encountered three Marks already just exploring the desert around Kanver!

One last thought on FF16 now that I've had a few days to sit on it - Find the Flame is a top tier FF song.

Is this a song I've encountered already? I don't want to look it up and get spoiled. If it's the song from the volcano, that one is indeed a banger.

24 Season 2 Episode 16 complete!

I've been sensing some romantic overtones between Jack and Kate for a while, but my wife doesn't like the idea of it because she thinks there's too wide of an age gap, although I'm not even sure what the age gap is.

Also Kim's ability to randomly find trouble continues to be unparalleled, not to mention running away from the one person she's met this entire season who would have just helped her no questions asked.

sutherland is 56 and wynter is 50, so 20 years ago they were 36 and 30. i have friends with that age gap and am not bothered by it, though it's understandable if jack comes off as more in his 40s

That's basically the age difference between me and my wife right now (I'm 37 and she's 30).

But yeah, she thought Jack was in his 40s and Kate was in her 20s.

Got back to playing Tears of the Kingdom. I unlocked the path to the Lightning Temple. Has there been a Lightning Temple in a Zelda game before? I know there's several I haven't played, but I don't remember there being one in the ones I have played.

Nothing dedicated that I can remember. Lanayru Mining Facility in Skyward Sword had some electric elements iirc, but thats all I can think of.

In Final Fantasy XVI, even Clive proves to be no match for Barnabas, getting beaten down twice (although I felt playing the victory jingle after displaying "Clive Bested" on the screen was a tad unnecessary). We get a couple of cool setpieces here between the ship and fighting at the bottom of the sea after Odin split it in two. Jill voluntarily relinquishes Shiva's power to Clive, and now all that's left is Odin's power.

We get a bit more insight into Ultima's goals and motives here. It looks like this is the classic higher power villain trope of "humans don't deserve free will because they do dumb stuff with it." Barnabas also seems to suggest that Clive might be immune to the Bearers' curse, which, considering his unique gifts, seems possible. He wouldn't be a great vessel for Ultima if he was going to succumb to the curse, after all.

The Mario movie is coming out on Peacock on Thursday, so I guess that's when I'll finally see it!

Yeah, he's a random one-off dude, but it felt like the show wanted me to feel sympathy for him. I just couldn't work up anything other than, "man this guy is dumb and Kim is a bad judge of character"
