24 Season 2 Episode 4 complete!

Tough call there by Mason, but since he's on a literal deadline now, he can make those sorts of decisions.

And whoa, Nina is back! Didn't see that twist coming, at least not this early on.

Fire Temple in Tears of the Kingdom beated! Finding that last gong was a pain because I kept thinking you had to find a track to get up to it, but I guess you were supposed to find your way up there with a rocket or something. The boss was a fun use of Yunobo's power, at least.

I think I just climbed up there? I don't exactly recall since I don't remember having a problem. That was my 4th temple so I had a lot of stamina and maybe that made the difference.

I mean, I had plenty of stamina for climbing. I was just trying to do it legitimately instead of cheesing it, but I eventually gave up. When I got up there and saw there was no track, I realized I'd been wasting my time and cheesing it was what you were supposed to do!

In FFXVI, Clive has his own Persona moment as he reaches out to the truth, faces his true self, and fights his Shadow, which results in him obtaining his own Persona. Really fun sequence of events.

Today marks 20 years since my first visit to GameFAQs to vote in this match.

I don't remember how many days into the contest I came to Board 8, but I don't think it was the first day, at the very least.

It's wild to think I've been here this long and that I still come here.

One of the side effects of having kids is that you get reintroduced to things you haven't had since you were a kid.

My son got pinkeye the other day, so naturally, now I have it, too. I had totally forgotten how unpleasant it is. It feels like I've been poked in the eye.

I found another Dragon's Tear in Zelda. Oh hey, this is from the beginning of the game when the broken Master Sword is sent to her. Wait, did Zelda turn into a dragon? Does that mean she's one of the dragons flying around in the present day?

And I found another Dragon's Tear. Well, this explains how Ganondorf became the Demon King and where the Blood Moon comes from.

also wait if Zelda becomes a dragon then calling these the Dragon Tears makes sense because they're Zelda's memories, whoaaaaaaaaa

The final stop in my "explore the region north of Lookout Landing" is the Lost Woods.

After throwing myself at the old entrance longer than I should have, and seeing the old torch method from BOTW no longer works. I decided to Metal Gear Solid this and sneak in from the Depths and ended up ascending right to the Master Sword platform. ...Oh this place got wrecked no wonder it was blocked off. Check on the Deku Tree and ended up in a small pit with Gloom Hands and nothing else so I fought them and *whoops* Phantom Ganon lol. This ended up being a more eventful exploration than expected lol. I might have just wandered back into the Main Story lmao.

Jack and Nina playing mind games with each other is so good.

Also I suspected Kate and Marie's dad was involved with Reza, but now I'm not sure if Reza sold him out to cover his own skin or if he's telling the truth.

Man, these sidequests in Moore in FFXVI are hitting differently.

I woke up three different times last night and I had to peel my eyes open because of all the gunk, and my eyes are so red and puffy that it looks like I haven't slept in 5 days.

Yeah I had it with my awful cold a few months back (though it only lasted a day or two). Really gross.

Secret Invasion Episode 3 complete!

The chemistry between Fury and Talos is so good.

Zelda: Phantom Ganon down and the Deku Tree and Korok Forest are fixed. We get a memory about Link and Zelda retrieving the Master Sword and... wait was the Master Sword in need of recovery after the end of BOTW? Why was it here lol? Anyway, he tells us thanks to a programming oversight it can actually have infinite power so I'm just imaging Link's incarnation in like 2 billion years swinging it casually and leveling a continent. Back in the present he asks Link where it is and Link, I assume, tells him "funny story" and the Deku Tree reveals a never-before-seen ability to just detect it at will. Apparently it's moving around in the sky. Anyway *that* gets flagged as a Main Quest so when I inevitably find it during later exploration I'll try to ignore it. Probably.

Also, while I was in the Depths, found a Coliseum with the item that will never leave Link's head except when I'm pretty sure some important cutscene is about to happen because it really ruins it otherwise - based Korok Mask.

Currently off exploring the Gerudo Highlands (not the actual Gerudo zone the one north of it.) Also fought and defeated a White-Maned Lynel. we've come so far.

Found another Dragon's Tear in Zelda. Wait, so if Zelda found the Time Stone in the present, Sonia also had a Time Stone, and Ganondorf stole Sonia's stone, so that would mean the stone Zelda found would be the same stone, right?

In FFXVI, I took out the first Mothercrystal and then things got wild. I had to beat Typhon, and then Ultima appeared. Cid sacrificed himself to save Clive and went out like Big Boss. Joshua shows up and seals Ultima within himself to protect his brother. This definitely won't come back to result in Joshua's death (although he is the Phoenix, so who knows!).

That bit was wild. Thats when it really started to feel like a FF game for me.

What makes it feel like an FF game is the return of absurdly long sequences where I can't save

The more I play 16 the more I like it. I still think the gameplay is almostunnecessary in a way, but Im really enjoying the world, characters and story theyve put together.

I almost wonder if this would have been better as an anime or something.

I like the battle system, but the game is undeniably easy and it feels like I don't get a lot of EXP from non-bosses anymore.

I also don't appreciate this return to FFXII's system of treasure chests containing mostly worthless junk. I was stunned when I opened a chest in one dungeon and it contained 1000 Gil instead of 50.

I think I got a piece of equipment from a cheat once and that was a nice surprise, but yeah the game does not incentivize exploration at all.

And yet I still explore every nook and cranny anyway

Oh hey, I can now ride a chocobo in FFXVI! Also I'm not sure how I feel about the pronunciation switch from cho-co-bo to choc-o-bo. The latter is what I originally used before FFX, so it feels like retroactive vindication or it's just British pronunciation...!

I also like that they're showing you how the same people interact with Clive with the Brand vs. without the Brand

In japanese every o would have the same sound so the first one is right!!

you just have to listen to Crazy Chocobo to understand the correct pronunciation

I actually felt pretty bad for that third dude transferring the bomb. The look on his face after the other two shot each other screamed, "I didn't ask for any of this."

Trails into Reverie arrived. Unfortunately I am trapped in Hyrule for the foreseeable future so idk when I'll be able to start. Could be like a month+ lol.

Speaking of, Zelda: Almost finished my exploration of the Gerudo Highlands. After that will be... uh... that spot between I want to say the Rito zone and the Lost Woods zone in the north. Truthfully I should have gone here first but I probably thought something along the lines of "I'd rather not go to a mountainous zone right now" and then forgot Gerudo Highlands like 98% mountain. For a different kind of progress update I'm at 88 Shrines (Maxed on Stamina, rest in Hearts) and also maxed my inventory slots via Hestu. Somewhere around 440 Korok Seeds total. (I have another 20ish on top of the ones needed for expansions)

Yeah, I almost went to Gerudo Land first and bailed pretty quickly, haha

I haven't gotten my copy of Reverie yet. Amazon pushed the arrival date back to Tuesday, which is honestly fine since I won't be playing it right away anyway.

Amazon actually pushed mine back to Tuesday as of yesterday or the day before but then all of a sudden today it showed as en route and showed up at like 7 PM lol.

I'm at 80 Shrines and 20 Korok Seeds. I haven't had as much time to play recently as I would have liked.

In Zelda, my wife found one of those Old Maps and it marked a spot in the Depths. She was bound and determined to find it, but after two hours or so of wandering, we hit a literal wall and realized we had to find a specific entrance on the world map to get there. We did find a few Lightroots though, so at least we got a bit of the map filled in while we were at it. And we ended up having to fight a Phantom Ganon before we could get the treasure chest, which contained...the classic Link cap. A decent Easter Egg, but I was certainly hoping for more after all the time we put in!

And then I decided to go ahead and head to Gerudo Land, and we found our next-to-last Dragon's Tear along the way. In this one, Ganondorf "swears fealty" to Rauru, but everyone present realizes it's a sham. I always forget that weird bit of lore that only one male Gerudo is born every 100 years, which prompted my wife to ask how they manage to maintain a livable population. Just don't think about it too hard and you'll be fine.

BotW explains that! And TotK too I think? It's Gerudo tradition for the women to go out and find foreign husbands at some point after they become adults.

I guess I just don't understand which races can crossbreed (for lack of a better term) with each other, and does the child always just come out looking like a Gerudo, no matter what? Gerudo DNA too strong.
