The other day I was discussing what does Gurumin mean. Apparently, "guru" means "spinning" the same way "kuru" does, as an onomatopeia; it can also mean "leader" or even "cohort". On the other hand, "min" means "people", "nation" or "subjects". This leaves us with either "the people's leader" or "spinning people". Considering the way Guru is used in "Guru Guru Tonight", it might be the latter; but this could also be a pun on dancing. Now, how does spinning relate to the game at all? Well, I've noticed drills move in circles when used, and Parin has a good number of special attacks with spin animations. Perhaps she is the turn-around the Phantom World needs to achieve peace, and the title reflects that. I bet they just found it catchy, though; just like Pikmin does.

Anyways, this charade has no relation to the songs, I just feel great talking about the games I like to support the most. By the way, Match 2 is absurdly stacked, and it's scary.

Hepatica versions are maybe the weakest Xeno-songs to get in these contests. Jintinda's pretty fun, though not what I was expecting from a game like this.

Smurfs song suffers from being on the NES or whatever. I do not like its style. Untrodden Morn has that rhythm game feel, but in a slightly different type of song. It's nice and chill.

Oh no more Utawarerumono. At least this one's better than the last. And then there's Gurumin, the Falcom soundtrack I like least. Do not enjoy this game's style at all.

i am genuinely confused by people who say hepatica is boring. I'm usually the person who prefers complex things with lots of voices. I should be the one bored by a song that's just a single soprano with a piano for the first 90 seconds. And yet, I am enthralled. The longing, the yearning, the sheer emotion of every single note, I don't know how doesn't draw you in. Then we get the to the more upbeat second half, move the melody to the violin and let the piano be a countermelody and I am a leaf floating in the water. I am reminded of Their Eyes Were Watching God the movie, there was a scene like that, but I couldn't stand the book, half because I couldn't read the eye-speach and half because it was a bizarre paean from an accomplished writer asking "what if, instead of bettering myself, I'd screwed up my life?" Anyways back to the song, we get the fake Latin again at the end in an awesome merger of both modes and yeah I am just in heaven please let this win it's all I ask for okay that's a lie I ask for a lot but I would really appreciate this one.

This is banging. As in, it is banging a hammer against my head. I look at the votes for this song, and I wonder. Is this why some of y'all call everything bangers? Because music is dead to you if it doesn't have a rhythm so strong it overpowers everything else? Is this like spice, where if you get used to a certain level of "banging" everything below that level might as well not have a rhythm section? Dear god, never let that happen to me.

This is fine, but there's a lot of versions of this track I like more.

Gurumin is super hit or miss for me. This is a miss. Also the "min" isn't really people, more just being cutesy. A rough localization might be "Spinella."

my first experience with hepatica was through this very upload. or it would have been if supra 1.0 didn't get NUKED. tender vocals mingled with the piano. i love when it picks up and the strings are added too... this is a song that i'd start to fall asleep to a lot, and i don't mean this in a "so boring lol must need noise" way, but that it's just ... comforting. i was curious and checked the archive to see if i had actually commented on the original upload. it appears that i did not, which is fine by me as i do not wish to die of my own cringe.

i first listened to jintinda labs like about the time i was listening to the hfw soundtrack and i remember being taken aback that both of these have the same person contributing to them. says a lot about their range ig! this is a fun, synthy good vibe. that part that begins and escalates from 2:12 is so good! i could see myself voting for this, but hepatica is very impactful to me personally.

alberto gonzales' work usually has this vibe of a dude with a big ego strutting down the sidewalk to me. this much less so than a lot of his work (that ive listened to before, naturally, i am NO expect on ajg LORE), mostly just present in how the backing beat is so jaunty! i really dig the mysterious vibe this manages to pull off, especially for a gbc title. very dreamy and floaty. im picky about gbc music but this is just so unbelievably out of this world.

i was prepared to vote for untrodden morn, or expecting to anyway, based on my listening to both these tracks in the noms phase. (and well, untrodden morn in other settings too). this is also pretty spacey, and i really just love how it pops eeesh this is a tough one but im feeling another world today.

i am one of the UTAWARE PROPAGANDISTS and i feel like i haven't been voting for them as much as i feel like i ought to. i picked this one to support by random, knowing i just wanted one of the songs from this game in the contest and now oops all utaware. suara's voice is always so beautiful! i love japanese ballads a lot

WHY SIGHT OF SILENCE AAAAAA im picky about falcom but gurumin fucks because it doesn't sound like falcom as much as stuff that people point to when they think of falcom? i love the combination of the xylophone and bass!!! this is an even tougher matchup.

Extase - Vision Control is by Stephane Picq who did Chanis Eyes. It has a frantic melody with sound effects interspersed, giving it a bizarre dreamlike feel.
