I mean tbh I was planning on breaking up with her since the whole relationship kinda fizzled out, but man after three years I expected more then a text. I would not have done it like that. So not considerate. But whatever, saves me the stress and trouble of doing the breaking up I guess haha. So yeah I guess I was dumped lol.

Sorry to hear that. I havent been broken up with by text, but the last relationship I was in was when texting was in its infancy.

I remember the one time I was broken up by a gf via text. It had only been a 2 month thing, so not really the same, but this was when Super Mario Odyssey was just released. She texted me a couple of sentences, and I pretty much responded "okay, have a good life" and went right back to Super Mario Odyssey. Pretty good clue that I didn't actually give a shit about the relationship anyway.

Luckily I dont use social media so thats done. The stuff she bought me was stuff I picked out for myself so I think I'll be keeping all that.

Maybe the only thing I will donate or something with is a big Valentines Day Teddy Bear she bought for me haha.

but just for the future
spending money on someone and lavishing them with luxury gifts doesn't really equate to effort in a relationship, and tbqh its kind of a fucked up mindset to think that giving someone gifts means that they owe you anything

I don't think she owed me anything aside from better then a text message.

I did a lot more then buy her stuff. Probably should have mentioned everything else haha. But yeah obv a relationship is more then just money. We did plenty of stuff together but it just fizzled out over time. I think her family still likes me but I think she is just not ready for a relationship. Or maybe I am doing something wrong but I don't know exactly what it would be.

She lived a bit far from our usual hang out spots but I'm right where we loved to go. I didn't want to bother her by making her drive over here, so I would always go pick her up even though it was more of a burden for me.

I mean, if she said she wanted to make the drive herself, I would let her. I just felt it was the right thing to do to go pick her up right from her house, rather then make her drive to where we were going to go together.

That's rough. Even if the relationship had pretty much already ended from both of your perspectives, that's something that should be done in person, and if you're scared of confrontation, then over phone.

The only thing worse than a text message is a physical breakup letter, because that takes time to travel and such.

Fair enough. New question. Why did you have usual hang out spots after 3 years? I know every relationship is different, but why weren't you living together or planning more of a future? If you are still just hanging out, then of course it fizzled out. I realize this might just be yhe language you used, but it does seem indicative of being stuck in short term relationship mode.

Neither one of us is in a financial position to live together. I still live with the fam since I am still in school. But that should change very soon.

She's only got a 2 year degree and took the first job of her life a few months ago and it's not exactly a great job. So unless one of use was gonna move in with the other's family, it wasn't gonna happen lol.

I have only broken up with 2 women where it was more than a few dates. I did both in person and it sucked so much. But I still did it.
