Too trapped in nostalgia imo. Character designs are hit or miss depending on things, and some points in the plot are more sloppy than the first half, but the huge emotional/epic payoffs have been much higher in most places to me than pre time skip.

Someone tipped me 100k gold today in wow for a basic craft. That was cool. Ran all my dungeons and got my BIS bracers crafted which is pretty great.

One Piece post yime skip has longer arcs, still the best thing ever.

Fishman Islamd is a series low probably but series low in One Piece is still decent. Punk Hazard and Dressrosa are good but perhaps longer than necessary. Everything after that is excellent.

True, and also fishman island has like, some really good literary themes that people who are only in it for the 'cool story' stuff skip over but some booktubers who got into into the series praise a lot. One Piece is like, legitimately a great work of fiction lmao.

My blood sugar this morning was 98, which is exactly where I need it to be to be really healthy so that was really exciting.

The Cubs are on a 5 game win streak and are giving me a little hope before the trade deadline. Go Cubs Go.

I am getting really good at communicating my needs and feelings super calmly to my partner, this is a really nice feeling tbh. I have been much, much calmer lately and I feel very in control which is lovely.

I have had a stiff neck the past couple of days, going to try to rest more since I am probably overdoing it a little. My body isn't used to me moving around so much lol.

Also I have gotten 0 anime suggestions, slackers.

All that stuff is great, yeah. It could have easily been shorter though.

True, but I also think it holds up better if you aren't week to week. That's the interesting thing about manga/anime versus looking back is that they are two very different experiences. But I can see how even if you read it in one go it could drag in places.

One Piece is one of those things where everything goes on so long that I can't remember what is going on half the time, but I enjoy the chapter to chapter enough that I generally don't mind.

Yeah on a reread it's better imo. Week by week it stood still at times. Probably similar experience people would have Dressrosa, and I think it's because a lot of stories go on at the same time so it might feel like a lot of it isn't moving. I don't personally find that to be an issue though. Enjoyed reading it weekly for a vast majority of my life.

Giants are teetering on the edge between post season bound and full on mediocrity.

Then getting swept 3 games by the Nationals to remind me that confidence is a lie.

But I'd still rather be a Giants fan than an Angels fan right now. I can't believe they won't trade Shohei. As unhappy as some people may be immediately following the news it would have been an incredible jolt of adrenaline to their next decade of development. All to gamble on one half season that might not even result in a new contract?

Baseball is too exhausting for me to follow extensively. Happy that the Brewers rebounded from their slump though! Right now, all I'm watching for sports is the World Cup. The women, of course. Don't care about men's soccer very much. Haven't even been to a game for the local club.

My blood sugar result came back from the lab. No concerns - it's 104 non-fasting, which is good. If I had known going into the clinic that I was going to have blood drawn, I wouldn't have had a donut right before. Huge sigh if relief given how I've felt my health slipping this month.

I have no Anime recommendations at all - I still have one set of DVDs on my backlog. Will let you know how that is in a couple years. Got three other major watch projects first (one is in my sig).

Ohhh yes! Chainsawman is also very good imo. Read some of Dr. Stone and also think that's something you'd be into.

But Steins;Gate is my favorite anime so I'm partial to that but think you'd like everything recommended so far! Having really gotten back into anime myself the last year or two, excited to see what you end up choosing!

I'm not well versed enough in anime to be able to tailor any recommendations based on your MAL or anything, but I'll throw out 86 Eighty-Six because I think it's a masterpiece in general.

Ironically despite living in Japan I don't really watch anime

Diamondbacks started the year hot but have fallen to third place in the division (curse you FD)

Helck is getting a current anime adaptation! I'll always recommend it.

Also, I see no Baccano on your MAL. It's my favorite anime.

Redline is a racing movie, came out in 2007 and still has some of the best animation I've seen.

I see Lupin the III, I assume that's part one? The Woman called Fujiko Mine and subsequent movies are really good.

Oh, I also realized there is a bot on the MU discord that sets up 8-10 player turbo games that last like an hour max, also a fun thing to do if you're one of the people here who like mafia and want to do game nights, that can be an activity.

Super busy day but its been good! I realized late that I havent said anything today so hello. I got my hair cut, had some home made pizza, and have ben playing a lot of mafia as well as some time with my partner.

Also apparently the Cubs just cannot lose, let's hope they win all of their games.

I will get around to anime time though, for sure.

I read an Athletic article the other day that compared this Cubs team to the Braves team that won the World Series and how similar they were statistically at this point in the season. Granted that Braves team winning the World Series was a bit of an outlier and were coming off several years of division titles while the Cubs are still rebuilding. But at least I think we're not selling at this point (yay keeping Bellinger) and I'd be fine with a couple small deals. Don't think we should be significant buyers though.

Honestly I wouldn't be upset at trading Belli as long as the Cubs get someone who will be ready to play at thr major league level in the next year or two. Preferably at 1st or 3rd.

Unlike Stroman, I don't see Bellinger staying past this season.

Of course I would rather they just see how far they can get with this team as is.

Been reading a lot this reason, I got into the Classroom of the Elite light novels after loving the anime and they are fantastic. It feels super good to be able to focus now and do my reading.

If anyone checks this topic regularly, whose up for some sort of event night this in August? Pen the date and we can plan it out, or a couple of different ones. I tested that wavelength game I shared earlier and it is pretty great, although probably better with voice chat.

Getting a 4 game sweep is really difficult so I wasn't surprised by the loss yesterday.
