DBZA is easily my favorite version of DBZ

its good, but you really need to watch the original first to understand a lot of the humor

I think after they get to the Namek and overlooking that one horrible joke they had Krillin say. It is a better. Double so with the android saga.

Yeah that's definitely the low point of the series. But Ginyu Force onwards was pretty great.

I like DBZA but the early episodes are pretty low quality and rough to watch. They got much better at it as time went on, both in writing and editing. Plus a parody doesn't really work on its own without the original.

There was the Ocean dub, then the Funinatiom one. Funimation may have revised theirs for some of the home releases, but the home releases are all a shitshow in various ways. This is a fascinating video essay on the subject.

The original is the sub.

In some ways, yes. Because of extensive lip-flap editing and the benefit of hindsight, a lot of the line deliveries in DBZA are way better than the original dub. That said, it's still a comedy dub, and it's not fair to compare a complete rewrite with tons of editing to an early dub that was still trying to match awkward lip flaps. The whole dub crew has gotten better and better over the years.

Super's dub is basically immaculate, for example.

To be fair, it was written, directed, and edited for the most part by a gay man.

I can't think of a parody dub that is better than official dubs.

If you like subs fine but I don't watch TV to read. That's what books are for. It would be like listening to a book on tape.

I have captions are regardless of any language. Sometimes people speak in mumbo jumbo language and it's better to read what they're saying better to hear what they're saying.

Blue Water and the Big Green dub are official English dubs in Europe.

Some might have already said it because I don't know the name of it. But everyone is speaking about all these different dubs. I am pretty sure that they had one Dub where they called Goku zero.

Same. I have hearing damage. I have a really hard time watching anything without captions. That and so many movies have a lot of mumbled lines you completely miss.

The Harmony Gold dub.
It was the first English dub. They only did the first 5 episodes and cut Movie 1 and 3 into one movie. It was less censored than later dubs.

Abridged series are almost always better.

If you have not seen it, I also HIGHLY recommend Hellsing Abridged. One of the funniest things I've seen on YT.

True but when they brought up the joke in a recent commentary, he really regreted that joke and hated how trolls used it online to mock people.

Yeah... the joke itself is fine, and it fit the edgy, irreverent sense of humor from the time it was written... but, like with most media, the fans who took it the wrong way made it retroactively more offensive.

Early YGO Abridged is my all time favorite anime parody, but yeah, towards the end of Battle City/ the beginning of the virtual world, it really became pretty crappy.
