No. I installed it but Im trying to finish up Godmaster in Hollow Knight because Ive gotten decent at the bosses and Ill suck if I stop and come back.

Just started it, got to level 2. Right now I'm researching on what exactly the fuck a 1d6+3 or 1d10(1d8)+3 means and which weapon is better to use. I rather use the scimitar as I prefer swords to hammers or axes, but if the hammer has a higher chance to hit ill take that.

No. I play mostly on consoles, but I probably won't play it then either.

Hell yeah, it's great. My friend's been having some crashing issues, though, and it impacts our co-op play.

Close to 15 hours, level 4, still in Act 1.

I'm enjoying the hell out of it. It sucks my PC can't handle it well but GeForce Now has been amazing to play it with the 9.99/month option.

initial strike without (strength) other modifers can be either 1 to 6. Without strength modifiers or luck or blessings, the lowest strike is 1.

The (+3) is then added to whatever the initial roll was. If it was a 1, the strike's total is then 4 instead.

Knowing this much came from my own research with 'Pathfinder: Kingmaker' when I wanted to go as a full party of wizards using daggers. Default daggers in that game do 1d4 damage (so one 4 sided die) for comparison.

Basically it's your damage variance with any particular weapon type.

All weapon attack rolls, which determine hits, are done with 1d20, so a roll to hit is 1-20, and is compared to your target's AC (armor class.) You can view your target's AC by right clicking and examining them.

Your attack roll is modified by two things-- the primary stat of the weapon type (finesse and ranged weapons use Dexterity, for example) which adds its modifier to the hit chance, and your proficiency bonus (which starts as a +2 and increases at certain levels.)

So... for example, a Barbarian at level 1 with 17 strength will have a +3 strength modifier and a +2 proficiency bonus to his hit chance with a greataxe, which will mean that his total hit modifier is +5.

So... his range is between 6 (d20 rolls a 1, add +5 and it's 6) and 25 (rolled a 20.) Based on AC that's what determines the "chance to hit" which the game shows you when you hover over an enemy to attack.

Hence, the imps in the beginning of the game have 7 AC, so the only possible way to miss them is with a Natural 1 (aka a roll of 1 on the d20 before modifiers), therefore it says you have a 95% chance to hit.

Damage dice, meanwhile, don't benefit from proficiency but do benefit from your main stat, so that barbarian up there would have a +3 to his damage rolls.

A greataxe is a 1d12 damage weapon. A greatsword is 2d6. That means a greatsword hits for 2 damage at minimum because it can never roll lower than 2 1s, which would total 2 damage +3 for 5.

But yeah, that's the basics. There are finesse weapons that benefit from Dexterity instead of strength, but most weapons either use Strength or Dexterity to determine both hit and damage modifiers.

That number in parentheses up there, the 1d10 or 1d8, is likely due to it being a Versatile weapon. Versatile means you can swing it with one hand or two. The 1d8 is one handed, and the 1d10 is two handed.

I just got to the chapel, went around the side and unlocked the cellar door on the edge. Found some skeletons, a tough battle and a mystery person. Game is pretty fuckin lit and I'm only level 2 hahahaha

Yup. Made it to level 5 in the Early Access and stopped since it was the level cap, so I've been hyped for the full release which I've played for maybe 10-ish hours already? I'm about to hit level 5 again which should be fun. MC is a Lolth-Sworn Drow Ancients Paladin.

It really sucks it doesnt have crossplay.

if you press T while you have a tooltip open it'll lock that tooltip so you can hover over all the other key words in it and see what those mean too. can also pin a dozen+ tooltips at a time if you really want to or if there's another mechanic you don't understand in every tooltip, which is what happened to me early on

I will say, one thing that pisses me off is your ability to attack your allies. Multiple times I've fucked up and stabbed a downed Allie instead of helping *facepalms* and it usually ends up being a fuckin critical strike *double facepalm*

Im like 20 hours in and just made it to CH2 lol. Its not a perfect game. It does have its flaws like the camera and I do have some complaints about its difficulty. Its still a really engaging game that grabs you and doesnt let go.

the game doesn't prevent you from doing what you want to do with a game over screen and I love it. I let (early game minor spoilers) the vampire feed on me for the lulz, ignore the 3 dice rolls to intervene and dude just straight up sucked me dead lmao. Had to resurrect my MC to continue and the scolding you can give him for fuckin' killing you is great.

Apparently it's not releasing on Xbox One....

Though I guess I could try Divinity: Original Sin II for a somewhat similar experience.
