Seems the popular ones are overwatch clones like valorant and apex. Not really a fan of those. Of course csgo is still the most popular but that game seems too systematic.

Mostly just old school CoD zombies with friends. Used to be all over Titanfall 2 but Respawn all but forgot about it due to Apex.

Fortnite and occasionally COD multi. Good games to play with the boys

Recently got into TF2 on PC. It's not the same as with my old xbl mates, but payload's really cool.

Destiny 2, Hunt: Showdown, Deep Rock Galactic, and Dark and Darker are my usual online shootans and stabbins.

Verdun, Tannenburg and Isonzo.
All WWI games from the same indie Devs, known for their 'relative' realism.
~You will die, a lot. A small but respectful player base.

That's a good question I'd also like an answer to, because I did quite enjoy WW2 but haven't tried to play it in years.

Oh yeah, I never have a problem finding a match on PS4. It was free PSN game a few years ago so the population has been quite steady. Unless it's for a very niche playlist but I mainly play Shipment and War mode which is my favorite game mode out of any CoD. It's just about accomplishing objectives and not worrying about your KDR.

Highly recommend going back it. I played a ton of CoD4 and MW2 back in the day and then I quit until this was free. It's a lot of fun and feels more like the older ones I grew up on. CSGO and Overwatch 2 are my go to. Although Overwatch 2 always has a terrible balancing issue.

I keep entertaining the idea of going back to L4D2 lately. Payday 2 was ruined for me a while ago so maybe it's worth trying to re-adjust to L4D2. But there's no middle ground with that game, aspects of it are either really cool or the worst ever.

Oh, and Scream Fortress is coming soon. The only time of the year where a game is worth being excited about.

I actually loved War mode so you mentioning that specifically really makes me wanna give it a go again. I used that mode to level all the guns and grind camos without it tanking K/D (while playing the objective as best I could, obviously).

I wonder if the DLC maps still come up at all, because I owned it all.

Not since the OW1->OW2 switchover. I dont think Ill ever find a shooter I liked more than OW1. It was truly for me.

Same here. Me, my friends and my brother were all huge fans of overwatch 1 up into a certain point. Made sure to do my placements for like 30 seasons straight before I eventually quit for good.

If overwatch wasn't tied to my psn and blizzard profiles I swear I'd find someway to sell just the overwatch account. Pink mercy probably could make me some money, lol.

Before overwatch came along, my favorite competitive shooter (or one with a competitive mode) of all time is gears of war 3 (the gears of war series in general is one I love, but 3 is definitely the peak for me). I love that game with a passion, and gears of war 4 and 5 just doesn't hit the same. Before that, it was left 4 dead 1+2, unreal championship 2 on the og xbox, return to castle wolfenstein, and quake 3 arena.

I never got into the whole battle royale thing a lot of shooters is doing these days.

I still play a little bit of CoD BOCW (MP and zombies) and CoD WW2 (just MP) but I'm done buying CoD games until Treyarch's next game in 2024. I'm really hoping for XDefiant to launch soon and be really good, because everything I've seen of it so far makes me hopeful that it could finally give me the fast-paced shooter fix that CoD hasn't been delivering lately.

MW19 was fuckin baller. Don't know how populated it is now but with crossplay it's probably fine.

I'd rather shove my head in a blender than play another minute of Modern Doorfare 2019 or its god-awful sequel, Modern Warfare Roman Numeral Two 2022 Electric Boogaloo: It's Doorbin' Time. They're slow, boring, dull, campy, genuinely unfun games that cater more to Joe Cecot's door fetish than any sense of good gameplay design.
