I mean...they've got their work cut out for them finding another actor who can popularize a former punchline of a character the way Momoa did for Aquaman. Still, dude will be pushing 50 by the time these new movies start rolling out, so I guess it's inevitable that they feel the need to trade up for a younger actor.

This is true. I always leaned more into DC comics than marvel. The only exception would be Xmen. Mostly the 90's run of Xforce

I read an article the other day where the only current DC cast members he's going to keep the same (so far confirmed) are Blue Beetle, Amanda Waller, and Peacemaker.

I think there's more he could and should consider, especially other Suicide Squad members, however I get that he's trying to distance himself from what people think of when they think DC (though I'd argue Waller and perhaps Peacemaker with the popularity of his show might counter that a bit).

Btw, I happened to think Blue Beetle was fantastically fresh for a franchise that seems to have rather stale ideas and I enjoyed Xolo Mariduea as the main character. Glad he's being kept.

However, after researching it is a little disappointing to learn the comic Jaime Reyes actually lives in El Paso and instead they just made a fake FL city.

Secretly I was really hoping for a Zack Snyder version of Injustice, as a sequel to Dawn Of Justice and Justice League. It was highly unlikely to happen already, but now it's flat-out never gonna happen.

Understandable that they're letting the DCEU go entirely though. In the end the production of sequels and spin-offs comes down to whether the movie theatre masses will like it or not.

Yeah he's way better suited for Lobo with his gross grungy look.

They also need to bring back Henry Cavill and cast him in a villain role. I dont know who yet, but he's just so much better suited as a villain character.

And... that's about it. Thank God James Gunn knows it's best to start with a clean slate. I don't know if it's too late for DC, but honestly with marvel sucking and literally killing off its two biggest characters, there's no better time for dc to get its act together. This time with actual planning ahead and recruiting young fresh actors, but not crappy gen z ones.

Just worried this won't be enough to wash the DCEU stink off the new projects. Blue Beetle got great reviews but still bombed at the box office, likely because the DCEU brand has just been poison lately.

Snyder's favorite DC Comic is The Dark Knight Returns. Which is a great comic don't get me wrong but it's got a whack Superman, an even whacker Batman, and those versions of the characters have never been a part of central DC continuity.

Nah that's very much an issue in every single Snyder movie.

Not all of the DCEU movies have this issue but when the big crucial movies have it the universe was always gonna fail.

Good thing is Gunn is pretty excellent at finding heart and soul for even the weirdest and quirkiest characters. But it's also possible they've missed the boat by now and people are over these superhero cinematic universes.

It's because Zack Snyder openly doesn't like characters like Superman. He's an edgelord who doesn't think it's "realistic" if superheroes are good, wholesome people.

He's literally the guy who thinks his movies are for adults because Batman can get raped in his movies (this is a real quote).
