You wouldn't think that you could somehow modernize animals in a forest but here we go.

We already know they're going to cut out his mother's death. Not as though the original was overt about it.

Predictions:
>The father/king of the forest dies instead

>Mother teaches important lessons as the Queen of the forest

>Bambi and Thumper no longer fall in love with girl animals or are indifferent to it.

So real talk I never really watched the Bambi movie as a kid (did anyone? Looks like a less interesting jungle book) and only skimmed it as an adult, but... we all thought Bambi was a girl right? It's a movie about a deer, a typically feminine associated animal and plus I think they gave eyelashes which used to be animators way of signaling which animal character is the girl character.

So I was shocked to find out Bambi was a dude. So now I finally understand right wingers and their prejudice/hate of all things different from them lolololol.

But seriously I doubt anyone cares about Bambi. This feels like it will be like the Dumbo remake, fall under the radar because no one cares about it (oh yes there was a Dumbo remake)

But... that's a good thing to include. Jungle book had a similar theme and I loved it for that, that's absolutely the right way to modernize something to make it relevant to current period.

Going by what's going on with Snow White, Disney probably won't even hire deers for the movie. Instead, they will cast an Asian man, Hispanic woman, and African boy who will play humans who identify as deers living the hard life in the forest world.
