Oh I think I get what the confusion here is. By "non-physical" magic, you mean a mage saying "slow" and Superman slows down?

That's exactly what I mean. A spell that has a physical effect like Slow, Poison or Doom, but doesn't conjure a physical object as an attack. It's the very example I provided earlier on.

Yeah that would and has affected everyone. There's the episode in JLU where that kid sent every adult to another dimension, then his mom Morgaine le Fey turned the JL into kids. But they were both mega powerful sorcerers. Morgaine solo'd the JL in that show so...

The only other instance I could think of was in Young Justice where Klarion took control of the JL buuuut he's a Lord of Chaos so that's dumb OP multiversal magic god character who can do that.

Yeah, both of those are upper level in DC magic tiers. They do have highly potent magic. A character like Felix Faust (who recently was able to land a spell on Superman) is just a tier above the way Constantine used to be written before he got highly popular in recent years. Now Constantine can go toe to toe with the likes of Klarion, but in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s he was little more than a conman with a very shrewd mind and little magical ability.

It was just an arbitrary example of a status effect spell. Have it be Stop, Poison, Doom or any other if that suits you

Depends if we count Yuna or Tidus for FFX, cause Yuna could just summon Yojimbo and Zanmato them all.
It's the whole party

FF characters have a really low power level, most of them are just above-average normal people except for Terra and maybe Cloud.
All of the FF protagonists are fairly adept magic users, with the exception of Cloud and Squall who need items or charges

The Warrior of Light is an incredibly skilled swordsman and, based on his depictions since Dissidia, uses the power of light to augment his swordplay.

Emperor Mateus, the main antagonist of II, usurped Satan almost immediately after being killed once by the heroes. Firion and his party then killed him again in his domain

The Onion Knight in FFIII can choose any vocation be it melee or magic and his preferred jobs are the endgame vocations Sage and Ninja

Cecil is a half-Lunarian and wields both light and darkness as Paladin and Dark Knight respectively

Bartz is in the same boat as the Onion Knight

Zidane was basically created to be a grim reaper 2.0 to replace Kuja, who after getting his super mode, destroyed an entire planet with a single spell.

Tidus lives in a world where anyone can learn to use magic and he specializes in speed-based magic. He's also an expert swimmer, participating in what's essentially 3D soccer underwater

Lightning is quite literally both a goddess and a godslayer. She also killed an actual on-screen planet buster.

And then there's XIV's Warrior of Light, who's practically the closest you'll get to a Superman counterpart outside of the original Warrior of Light

Noctis wields an arsenal of weapons that he can fly and shoot at his enemies with. He can also warp immediately to where they're thrown, even in mid-flight. He also has dominion over his world's gods.

Clive is basically what you get when you give a DMC-esque character Final Fantasy stuff. He can absorb and merge with summons, becoming strong enough to stop a planet-busting attack.

Really, only XIV WoL, Lightning, Noctis, Clive and possibly Terra stand remotely a chance against the Justice League.
