I guess, technically, since I never bought a Wii U until it came at a lowered price with Wind Waker HD already on it. I've only got 7 physical games on the system plus a few other downloaded.

I guess technically, yes. I didn't buy the Switch until right before Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came out (I really wanted to play that). But I knew there would be other games that came out after that, that I'd play. Plus, there was already Mario Odyssey and Smash.

When I was younger, yes. I initially got my GameCube for Smash and my PS1 for Chrono Cross. Both libraries wound up growing to be pretty huge, but I can't deny that at that age it was a lot easier for me to justify an expensive purchase for a single game. I also bought a PS3 to get the Mortal Kombat reboot on, but it was also intended as a replacement for my Xbox 360, which was on its third replacement (covered under warranty) for RROD and I didn't feel like trying for a fourth.

Nowadays there's no way in hell I'd buy a console that didn't have a considerable library of exclusives I want. My going rate at this point is that the combined value of the games has to be at least equal to the cost of the console itself.

PS5 (partly) for Hogwarts Legacy, but I haven't even really played HL, lol.

I was already planning on getting the PS5, though, and HL kind of helped me make my decision...I'm not even a Harry Potter fan, even though I liked the movies, so that's pretty weird.

I owned a wii for 6 months just for smash. Sold it all to a friend when i was done with it.

I bought the PSVS for Resident Evil 7

OG Xbox for ToeJam and Earl III. Totally worth it for that game and also for the games not available on GameCube and the games that looked better on Xbox.

PS2 for Kingdom Hearts. Totally worth it for the amount of time Ive put into KH and KHII.

It's amazing. And I'd totally recommend it.

PS4 for Bloodborne. Game Cube for Bloody Roar.

Xbox 360 for CoD4. It wasn't on the Wii for a few years.

Yeah, I got a PS4 specifically for Kingdom Hearts 3. I mean, I figured there would be other games I'd want it for too, but I won't pretend KH3 wasn't the main reason. And then I had to go and wait another 5~ years before the game even came out!

The initial GameCube launch did not really catch my interest or make me think it was a console I should purchase. One of my good friends bought one, so we would play Smash Brothers Melee from time to time, and that was about it. I'm sure Luigi's Manison, Waverace, and Rogue Squadron were OK, but those games and the later titles released during the year didn't do anything to make me think it was time to buy the system. I was content with still playing PS1 and PS2 games at the time.

However, that mindset completely changed with Metroid Prime. It was a game I had on the radar and kept checking for updates since I've always been a Metroid fan, and it had been close to 8 years since Super Metroid. I remember reading the reviews in an EGM issue, and they said, "Get this gameeven if you have to buy a GameCube to play it." So that's what I did, and it was worth every penny.

Got the Xbox for KoTOR, but I bought other games eventually

PS3 for MGS4. Was not disappointed.

I suppose sort of? Though I was also positive the console would get other things I really wanted, at the time I picked it up the only game on the Wii U I considered a "must have" was Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Kinda? With every new Nintendo konsol, I go in knowing there are 2 games I want, even if they haven't been announced yet. Smash and Mario Kart. I know there will be other games, but those are the ones I know are komming and am 100% on board for.

Then there's the PS5. I knew. There there literally no exclusives on it, but I knew I wanted one. I was kontent waiting, but eventually, they went and announced Dragon's Dogma 2. I think I ordered mine that very week. Played the 3 Spider Man games on it, and no regrets thus far.

I bought a Vita for P4G if that counts

3ds for mega man legends 3. . . Thankfully it got some other games.

2 games - SF4 and GT5 on the PS3.

More or less same with PS4, although I was never gonna buy the alternative anyway.

No, but I delayed playing BotW until I got a Switch rather than playing it on my wife's WiiU. If memory serves, I had the game a couple months before the console.

So while BotW was the game I was all gung ho about, I definitely wanted the Switch for other games, too.

Technically I bought a PS5 just for Spider Man 2. More for the Limited Edition Spider-Man 2 plates/controller than even the game itself.

Sure. I got a psp with the express purpose of playing Crisis Core: FFVII many years ago.

The N64 didn't have a lot of games announced, but playing Mario 64 at Toys R Us was more than enough for me to NEED it at launch.

I got N64 for a game that got cancelled.

The concept of Smash Bros on 3DS is what pushed me towards the system, but there were other games I was interested in as well.

I also almost bought a used 360 to play Tales of Vesperia. A week later, the Definitive Edition was announced, so glad that one fell through

Original Xbox for Munch's Oddysee, a very long time ago. Well, asked for rather than bought, given my age at the time.

About 6 months before I sold it I finally got another game on it, though I also rented games for it a few times.

I got another one a bit later and had a wider variety of games that time. Including that I picked up Splinter Cell for the exploit, but ended up actually playing and liking it.

Yes. It was a Switch launch title, but on day one it was on the WiiU, too.

many years later, i bought a Saturn just to play NiGHTS. this was way before it was digitally rereleased absolutely everywhere. but now i have a Saturn that collects dust and a few games i've never touched, and i played a lot of NiGHTS.
