Even if it's just one person watching vitals or whatever for a bank of pods with an "emergency stop" button. Someone who's fully immersed wouldn't be able to react well to surroundings or might be thrown into a state they need medical attention but are unable to do it for themselves (epileptic seizures, etc.). That said, I'm not sure I'd see such an experience fully supplanting an "at home" one. The latter is just far too convenient (and also often cheaper for long term use) to drop unless the difference is phenomenal.
