Then the ones that are relatively simple to install apps are either extremely old, or aren't supported in the US due to incompatible frequency bands. If you're open to iOS, maybe wait until the next SE model comes out (since it'll literally just be an iPhone 15/16 but with a downgraded camera) and go with a minimal amount of apps from there. KaiOS didn't take off because their products are mostly marketed towards the elderly.
