Last week, the Department of Defense delivered to Congress the initial volume of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office's Historical Record Report, which reviews the record of the United States government pertaining to unidentified anomalous phenomena, as required by the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023.

In completing this report, AARO reviewed all official U.S government investigatory efforts since 1945, researched classified and unclassified archives, conducted dozens of interviews, and partnered with Intelligence Community and DOD officials responsible for controlled and special access program oversight, respectively. AARO will publish a second volume that will provide analysis of information acquired by AARO after Nov. 1, 2023, including information received via interviews with current and former U.S. government personnel who contacted AARO via the secure reporting mechanism on AARO's website.

...

To date, AARO has found no verifiable evidence for claims that the U.S. government and private companies have access to or have been reverse-engineering extraterrestrial technology. Also, AARO has found no evidence that any U.S. government investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel has confirmed that any sighting of a UAP represented extraterrestrial technology. All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena and the result of misidentification. AARO assesses that all of the named and described alleged hidden UAP reverse-engineering programs provided by interviewees either do not exist; are misidentified authentic national security programs that are not related to extraterrestrial technology exploitation; or resolve to a disestablished program.

Uh huh.

Pretty sure that if the US government ever actually had proof of intelligent extraterrestrial life forms, Trump would have blurted it out in public during his time squatting in the Oval Office. The bastard cannot keep a secret to save his life.

I mean, there almost certainly is alien technology. Now the question is if there's any on Earth and the answer to that is almost certainly no.

The drake equation is irrelevant, it's just about estimating the number of civilizations in the universe rather than if there are any others at all.

The size of the universe is so insanely huge that odds are there are other intelligent life somewhere out there. The universe of course being as vast as it is though? Odds are pretty decent that humanity will never find it.

That is the fundamental intuition that is given by the drake equation. The only reason you can state that intuition as such is because somebody handwavily paramaterized it and then it got a lot of attention due to being sciency.

The issue is that you need to be incredibly confident that none of the probabilities that go into the drake equation have the possibility of being 0 for that to be a reasonable conclusion.

This is just a weird way to argue what is essentially the same thing. What you're saying is equivalent to sticking to a particular model of car when discussing the general concept of cars. Like, never mind that Drake's equation was for our galaxy; the equation isn't the point and there's no obligation to use it as the lens to view the concept.

Lots of these alien sightings are just top secret technology that we or other countries have.
Now with drone technology we can make all kinds of weird looking flying objects that can fly like crazy because they don't have to worry about a human pilot passing out.
There is a ton of development going into hypersonic missile technology both in tracking and defending against hypersonic objects and developing hypersonic missile. And you have the stealth bombers that got mistaken for UFOs in the past. It is highly unlikely we have alien technology and every time there is a UFO craze tons of grifters come out of the wood work.

Let's say you exist in a system that has an energy landscape that is a hill, initial point at the top of that hill. Your position in that system can only move down that hill, not up it, by definition. This means that the state of the system at time t can never be revisited after time t. Now, if the probability of an event is only nonzero at a particular point in the system, then you only have the chance of hitting that state once.

These things can be much more complicated than a simple intuition from our existence.

This.

Also I'd forgotten it was for our galaxy and not the universe, my bad. Been a long ass time since I had to read up on that stuff.
