Im glad hes rebuilding the air benders, but did they have to make the youngest two soannoying? Aang was childish, too, but not like Tenzins youngest kids are. I guess theyre supposed to contrast how great the eldest daughter, Jinora, is? Idk

To be fair Meelo was 5 in book 1 and 6 in book 2 and 3. He was 10 in book 4. Idk about you but most 5 and 6 year olds are annoying as fuck.

They are. I have two nephews and a niece at that age, but they arent nearly as annoying as Meelos gross booger bubble personality. His head shape also makes me think it has something to do with how he behaves.

Fire has combustion.

Air has potentially the most OP power of them all - create a vacuum over someones head so they suffocate. Bloodbending is powerful but it aint got shit on stopping breathing

??? Did you watch the show. They've got several things going for them. Flight as has been mentioned. Spirit projection too, but the biggest one on par with blood bending is sucking the air out of your lungs.

How do people forget that? Sure it'll be a while but we'll probably have a psychic suck the air out of your lungs air bender if they want to exist similar to psychic blood bending.

Yeah, I was surprised reading through this topic that it took someone so long to mention breathbending. But it's no surprise that the internet in general has a particularly selective memory when it comes to discussing and critiquing LoK.

Nah, it's more similar than dissimilar. Both bloodbending and breathbending are forbidden techniques invented by modern masters in the contexts of their respective shows to demonstrate that even the 'good' elements have a dark side. The only real difference is that Zaheer didn't take five minutes to overdramatically telegraph the concept of 'BREATHBENDING' before using it the way Hama did (iirc he kept his dramatic monologuing down to a tidy 30 seconds or so, lol).

I'm pretty sure any airbender with their tattoos can do that shit though. Hell it's theorized that's what Gyatso did. That's not the case for the other types; those need a special type of bender for it to even be possible. It's different.

I hated that she didn't have to battle a ruthless Air Lord who was bent on conquering the other nations. And I particularly despise that she wasn't initially discovered by a young female Earthbender and her sarcastic non-bender brother after being trapped in an earthquake for a hundred years.

Theres a difference between that and what Zaheer does. Azula, and other firebenders, have zero agility. They can only propel.

Zaheer can fly without using his hands. He can fly and do dips and turns.

Ironically, Aang flies when he goes in avatar state almost every time. I dunno if that was intentional, but would make sense.

Okay, folks, I have a confession to make: I liked Korra more than TLA. I'm quite sure it's at least partly because I didn't fully watch either of them until I was an adult, so I didn't have childhood nostalgia for either one influencing me. TLA (appropriately) struck me as a show that was willing to tackle some more mature concepts but, ultimately, was still a kid's show. Meanwhile, Korra felt like a still kid-friendly show that was nevertheless aimed more toward the now no longer kids who loved TLA. In other words, it feels like the universe's tone grew up with its audience, which is why, as an adult, Korra was more enjoyable for me than TLA - because I was closer to the age range it was meant for.

...but the canon yuri end might have also contributed~

Yes it was. It even showed other masters where she was training and Katara was one of them. Korra just knew how to instinctively use 3 of the 4.

LoK definitely felt more mature, but I don't know if it was because of their audience getting older. It started only 4 years after TLA ended. I thought it was a great show that suffered from not being set up as one continuous story the way TLA was.

Season 2 is the weakest (but the Wan episodes are my favorite in the entire franchise, except for the kites) but even then it's about as good as season 1 of ATLA was.

It's definitely over hated overall. I like watching season 3 as much as I do either of the last two ATLA seasons.
