Rugrats was my favorite of the original three Nicktoons. Saw all of them countless times. Even as a kid I knew the writing was sharper than any other cartoon.

Muppet Babies was still good though.

They're not really of the same era though. Rugrats started airing in 1991, when Muppet Babies ended. I never watched the latter.

There's some CGI Muppet babies show that my nephew adores and the animation is fun. They move like puppets despite the CGI.

Muppet babies ended, but it remained in cycle for most of the 90s, what with me having watched it tons and only being born in 1990.

That being said, it's still rugrats for me. They did some shit in the first three seasons that you'll just never see anywhere else.

Muppet Babies did some shit you legally aren't allowed to see anywhere. Hollywood loved Jim Henson so much they just let him have clips of stuff you're never getting the rights to now.

I was born in 76 so I grew up on Jim Henson stuff. Started with Sesame Street and The Muppet Show was a big part of my young childhood. Fraggle Rock also ruled but Muppet Babies animated show was a natural transition from The Muppet Show. Loved it.

I have never seen a single episode of Rugrats. I dont even remember being aware of it back then but even though I watched cartoons in high school I wasnt watching that. I remember watching Ren and Stimpy back then so I watched some Nick Toon stuff but the next year I was mostly always just watching Cartoon Network

Plain and simple Rugrats was just off my radar or it didnt look appealing to me. But I dont think the popularity for it really soared until a little later when I was already gone to the military. This is similar to why I never was into Power Rangers. It didnt come into existence until I was a senior in high school and then gone in the military.

So yeah this is a long drawn out way for me to say Muppet Babies gets my vote.

Out of them all Gonzo and Animal were the most annoying. Kermit seemed......weak and I didn't like frogs back when I was younger. The others I barely remember

I never watched Muppet Babies as a kid but I did like Rugrats.

But my daughter absolutely loves the CGI animated Muppet Babies they did a few years ago. It has been her favorite show for like a year. To the point that Kermit is her bed time toy. She likes The Muppets as well (mostly the Jason Siegel movie) but Babies is on a whole other level.

She took it on a vacation a few months ago and there were so many comments about her having a Kermit toy lol.

Dunno how the new one compares to the original but I think the new one is quite good.

I love that song.

Also, I wish that they put it streaming somewhere. I want to watch that series again. I just remember so many references in that show, especially with Star Wars. It was great.

I learned more about movies at age 9 watching Muppet Babies in about a 1.5yrs of my life than otherwise imaginable.

so I just read why they can't put the series streaming anywhere and it makes sense. Too many licensing issues and considering all its references, I can believe it. You'd have a better chance of putting all the songs on old GTA games radio stations back into their games.

Early Rugrats was excellent childrens television, but Muppet Babies was fucking wild. Its a shame its lost to time due to the heaps of licensed movie and tv clips in every episode.

Definitely Muppet Babies. I actually might still have some I taped off tv when my family first got a vcr. That show ruled. Apparently it briefly came back at one point. I was watching a YouTube video about the show once.

Rugrats is probably good, but I never watched it much that I recall.

Depends on when you were born. For me, its Rugrats. Muppet Babies were slightly behind my time.

That scene from the movie where Tommy almost pours that jelly/food in Dills face tore me up inside. Im a big brother and I just about lost it in the theater.
