He has the numbers in front of him and has had them for months. Unconditionally supporting Israel's genocide of Palestine is the #1 thing that is killing his electoral chances. All he has to do is use one iota of mountains of the leverage he has over Israel and it would stop overnight, and he simply will not do it.

I really don't know what the strategy is behind pretending that the disapproval is only coming from a small fringe group that the Biden campaign can safely dismiss.

Dismissing these concerns is not helping him win votes.

I don't think Biden advocates Israel so much as toeing the line. He's said privately he doesn't condone Netenyahu's approach to getting justice for the terror attack but he's trying to stay neutral publicly because of US-Israeli relations.

Personally I think this is disingenuous and it's excusing a self-signed blank check for something that's basically one hop away from full-on ethnic cleansing in the name of keeping the status quo but I also don't think anyone on the opposition would have done anything any different if the other party had power. The people at the top just value being able to keep relations with Israel stable even at the expense of letting wanton abuses of power go without a firm decry.

I mean lets not pretend his poll numbers looked good before this happened

The last couple of major elections feel like it should have been the tipping point where people say fuck the big two but the fact we still believe that those are really the only ways an election can play out probably means we will never have better options.
