I have known people in the past who would make excellent parents but there are reasons why they dont want kids and are just happy enough to be uncle or auntie

No. I have far too much anger in me to be a good, patient parent.

I've seen every episode of Peppa Pig, so yeah I can handle it.

My biggest concern isn't so much quality of parenting but staying invested in it. Knowing how easily I can lose interest in things or get tired of them if they feel too arduous I have serious questions about how suitable being a parent is for me, because that's a constant test of patience and grace.

I would hate to be like "nah, this ain't for me" and either stop doing a good job or, worse, just want out entirely. Accepting a responsibility doesn't mean you'll be happy about it and that's a serious concern in my mind as I'd hate to do that to a child who deserves a good upbringing.

No. Unless my outlook on life drastically changed, I'd go no-contact, child support only if I somehow ended up with a bait and switch partner who didn't want to abort an unplanned child.

Well, hang on, I met a LOT of people who said they had a lot of self-doubt about parenting until they actually did it and discovered that, while it's a constant learning process, there is an inherent knack for it that you simply have to discover through doing it. You apply your values and virtues to another person who (hopefully) looks up to you and hope it resonates with them while showing affection and understanding - it's all anyone can do.

Financially, no.

But I think that I would have been a great father.

I would shelter them and then if they show signs of my mental illness I will say to myself and no one else
"You should never have been born due to the pains of my life I endured! Even if you live a life better than mine it's just pain when you die anyway it's like if you never existed you can't feel worse than death at times like I do and that's for the best"

If not for my alcoholism sure.

I've always felt this way but working in a prison showed me that. I'm stern when I need to be but i don't yell raise my voice etc and sympathetic/understanding when need be.

Maybeeee? But Im so not a disciplinarian so I dont think it would go so well lol.

Plus, almost twenty years in retail / customer service have completely destroyed my patience lol I would not be able to handle a kid. Maybe it would be ok if I didnt have to work, but having to deal with customers all day (who are basically oversized babies) and then having to deal with a kid sounds like an absolute nightmare.
